Alot of reports today linking us with a swap deal for Keane in January for Andy Carroll.

Do really need Carroll basically the same as Crouch

Oh boy, here we go again. Just when it was proven a forthnight ago that all these ITK rumours were pretty much a load of bs. And while Keane is still a very good player I cannot see a reason why would barcodes want to swap their brightest prospect for an aging player. Unlikely.

Carroll is a fantastic talent, though.

I would say he's more of a 'in yer face' type of striker and quite physical from what I've seen of him (and that's not too much tbh). 'Arry does like a big strong type up front so you never know although I would be surprised !!

A proven goal scorer like Keane would probably give them a better chance of survival than a rough diamond like Carroll. I doubt this would happen though these stories that come out now are just paper B/S filling up a bit of space till the window opens and they can make up a load more nonsense. However should it come to pass this might be a good deal for us we have enough quality players we can afford to have a young guy finding his feet in the Prem who may well make the grade and he would probably get as much if not more game time than Keane who seems to be out of favour at the moment.

I get your point but if we had 4 world class strikers we would never keep them all happy. Better to have a younger guy straining at the leash to show what he can do, than old jaded pros whinging and causing disruption.

reading today that we will be willing to pay £30m for him.

Most probably just paper talk, but that is crazy.

if you willing to pay that much for a striker, we could get someone 10x better than Carroll

Romelu Lukaku  is valued at 25m, even that is to much for him but its still cheaper than Carroll

Carroll would be a good buy, yes £30 million is over the top but he's young and I think he has the potential to be as good as Drogba with a big physical presence in the penalty box. With Bale and Lennon firing in crosses and Modric, Huddlestone and Van der Vaart buzzing round I really think he could terrorise defences, would also give the option of a big un and little un with Defoe !!!!

why dont we look at a Basketball league and get someone better.... and about 20 million times cheaper ??

only way it makes ANY sense is if we get to recycle Crouch and some dross eg. Chore Luka...

or as I suspect.... this is to make it look like we have options, as we really negotiate for Suarez...

Dont ya think though that paying 30 mill for a player that has the potential to be as good as Drog? is a bit steap mate, a risky investment 20 mill is worth a punt but not much more IMO.

If we do get him and pay 30mill he best produce straight away and be as good as we hope as we wont get anywhere near that back for him if not!

We are badly in need of a striker who can actually hold the ball up to feed our best finishers. People say that Crouch can hold the ball up, but it's more like knock it down. Carroll can actually hold the ball up and score goals with his head and feet. 30 mil is way high, but this is an English player and Newcastle don't want to sell. We really need someone with his qualities and I think the United game was a great example of why.

I've read that any chance of getting Carroll is dead in the water though. Any deal for a striker from another Premier League team in the  January window will always be paying over the odds.  He might not be experienced enough or have proven consistency to justify 30 mil, but we really need this type of player.

Animal I hear what your saying but I just think that given the right conditions and coaching he really could be a superb striker.

Watching the Manure game how many times did Van der Vaart, Crouch or Defoe actually bully, hold off, and cause Vidic or Ferdinand a problem, I honestly can't remember it happening at all. Too many silky skills around the box, don't get me wrong I actually really love it when we pass and create space and opportunities, but it comes down to the same thing over and over you have to earn the right to play like that and the only way to do it is to dominate the CB's. Get in their faces, go shoulder to shoulder refuse to be pulled, pushed or dragged off the ball make them nervous give them something to think about don't let them have a minute where they can switch off.

That in my honest opinion is the only thing this Tottenham side lack a real out and out honest to goodness in yer face old fashioned Centre Forward to mix it up in the box causing havoc so our creative players can cash in !!!!!!

Ugs you are spot on regarding what we need fella, just I dont think Carroll with a 30 Mill price tag is the man.

Lets say we pay the silly over priced fee of 30 mill the expectation on him would be huge how do you think he would handle the pressure?? on top of that still nowhere near the finished product and how many times have we seen a player impact for half a season and thats it after...... example Santa Cruz and that other chap at blackburn whos name I have forgotten, just to mention a few that is my worry with Carroll I think he would be great for us but what if???.

15-20 mill for Carroll and maybe a player I would say thats good business, we paid 15mill for Bent who was more established and proven in the epl, granted different type of front man. .

THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!
