Who to buy? World Cup window shopping
« on: June 11, 2010, 05:08:33 PM »

With the world cup starting, its a very exciting time for some window shopping who should we buy.
After watching South Africa Mexico, recalling Giovanni Dos Santos would be a great move, forget Gudjohnsen I appreciate with Harry is looking for someone to hold up the ball for Defoe to play off, but Gio is pacey , great on the ball and has a killer shot, really think he should get another chance this season, just reminds me of how well he played at the Confederations Cup, I completely forgot about him sitting on Fenerbahce's bench, with his pace he could be a super sub late in games, Lennon and Bale on both wings Defoe and Dos Santos up front, would give us another option of supreme place, excellent for counter attacking football, which we will have to learn to do if we are going to go anywhere in CL this season.

Otherwise Pienaar looked good, great general, and I'm sure allot of people are talking about South Africa's Siphiwe Tshabala, he plays left or center mid, decent passer, and plenty of exuberance, he currently plays for Kaiser Chiefs in South African (Lucas Radebe's former club I think), but hopes to play in Europe, I don't want to get over excited already with prospects as I'm sure plenty more will come out of this World Cup.

Giovanni Dos Santos is such a great little player but i have a feeling we wont be seeing him back at The Lane. He was fantastic today and would love to have him back but Harry just doesnt favour him and if we sell him now we can make a profit and Barca wont have a massive sell on cut (i think). Pienaar would be a great signing and there has been talk about him but alot of Spurs fans think we could get alot better?

Maybe if he has a good world cup harry will want to keep him, sell Bentley and him him and Lennon on the right

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

Steven Pinaar - South Africa
Simon Kjaer - Denmark
Ivory Coast No 10, plays for Lille
Joe Cole - England

One things for sure Dos Santos value to us has shot up. We'll get twice what we would have got if we'd sold him in January which was a possibility I believe. The trouble as I see it is with Gio and Modric in our midfield we are a bit lightweight add Lennon to that and we would be muscled out of the game by the ..... well, shall we say more robust teams. He'd make a good impact player but I think he feels he's been hanging around long enough at Spurs and with his star rising could do better elsewhere.

Apparently Birmingham are interested in Gervinho, looks a good player, and only young, plenty of pace, good dribble, decent shot, has been CIV's best player.

I expect us to be linked with Fabiano again after his brace against CIV, can't see him coming, Man Utd or Milan are likely destinations. Another Brazilian striker, Vagner Love is available from CSKA Moscow decent record of late, and a bit younger at 26, was on loan at Flamengo, 15 goals in 14 games at moment.

Speculation is with Forlan and Fabiano at 31 and turning 30 respectively, that we are worried about resale value, surely doing well in CL trumps any resale, and is worth more financially anyway, these are quality players, its negative to even contemplate their resale before they are even bought instead we should be entertaining the thought of them retiring with us with a full trophy cabinet, and club goal scoring records along the way, not worrying that they fail and ultimately be sold.

I completely agree mate, having a succesful season is top prority with winning honours. Not buying a player because of questions surrounding his sell on value may have dropped because of their age is ridiclous. It never stopped United siging Sheringham before they won the CL and he eventually moved on for a lot smaller fee  (back to us if im not mistaken) Neither did it stop Chelsea from signing Deco from Porto to see him released this summer.

Signing a world class striker ala Forlan and Fabiano is a must if we are to challenge up the sharp end of the table next year with a good run in the CL - Sell on value shouldn't be a factor Levy!

Yeah you right... This season sell on value shouldn't even be entering there mind. We have plently of players already in our team that we will get profit on if they leave.

Along with CIV's best performer Gervinho, Fabio Coentrao Portugal LB will be hot property after his display against Korea, looked impressive.

We are being linked with Julio Baptista, apparently valued at around 4m surely he is worth more, but not convinced he is the signing we need, however if I had a choice of Keano, Eidur, or Baptista as a fourth striker, I would pick Julio hands down, a few people have an objection purely he was an ex Gooner, he was only on loan at Ars*nal it is football, players change clubs, really shouldn't matter who anyone played for if they are the right player.

Baptista was a sack of s***e for the gooners. he had one good game where, to be fair he ripped a second string Liverpool side apart in the league cup.

I'd defo have Eidur and Keane over Baptista. And Forlan and Fabiano over Eidur and Keane
