Jan Window 2010 - Round up
« on: December 08, 2009, 03:44:40 PM »
With the Jan window coming up reaports of who we are supposedly after are gather pace. So naturally I thought I'd start a thread to see who you guys think will be bought and sold in the Jan window.

Personally I thinks its a give that Harry will buy another Defender. Considering Woody and King are struggling to keep match fit and  O0 and Bassong are off to the African Cup of Nations. Also Harry has said that he is after a central midfielder as he feels that we are short in that area, so thats why the Sandro transfer makes sense. Along with the fact that we have a partnership with his club and he falls in the young with a great sell on value category makes him and ideal target from Levy's point of view.

Seeing as Pav looks certain to leave I think Harry may go after another striker. It could also depend on whether Keane leaves or not. Carlton Cole has been linked and I think he would be a great signing for us but the spammers have made it clear that they don't want to sell any more players to us, however given the state that their financial affairs are in we could snatch him from them.

                      Ins                                                              Outs

                  Carlton Cole                                                  Robbie Keane
                    Sandro                                                            Pav
                Moussa Sissoko                                               David Bentley
                     CB/LB                                                        Alan Hutton

Why not Carlton Cole? He already knows how to set up Jermain Defoe  ;)

Well I think that under Redknapp he really could blossom into a world class striker.

To be honest I don't think we need to sell players. All right, Bentley needs some attitude-adjustment and Pavlyuchenko and his agent should really shut up and honor his contract. Our back up players are all decent players and I believe in squad harmony and gelling. The only position we lack cover is centre-back, if Woodgate fails to recover, then we might need another player for that position.

Agree with most of that, but we will also need a back up 'keeper with Cudicini out for at least rest of season and possibly may not come back at all.

Okay, I have to list, what I want, and want I think we will get

What I want and why
Out
Bentley (attitude)
Hutton (s**t)
Pav (attitude)

In
World Class CB (whatever it costs, this is crucial for our season)
TBH that would do me, but.....
IF, and that is a big if, we can sell the 3 above I like the of

Sandro
Experienced, premiership LB

What we will get......and why
No CB, they will struggle on, head in the sand, ledders and Woody will be okay soon.........
Sandro.....it was a done deal in the summer
That's it!.........unless we can offload Bentley, Pav and Hutton more more than 30m! (don't see it)
But if we do, Harry will buy yet another striker, instead of investing in where we are weak, and letting Gio and Obika battle it out with Keane, Defoe and Crouch!

I just read that we are supposedly gearing up a 6 mill bid for Wigan left back Maynor Figueroa. We do need a left back but is he the right target we should be aiming for? Of should we aim for a player of more quality? I do rate him and think he is a good player but we should search the market and maybe go for a more experienced player. Also it said the we are interested in Celtic striker Aiden McGeady, i do hope this is just a rumour because we should aim for alot higher than him i wouldnt want him at Spurs

The Figueroa rumor was published in the mirror, so we can rule that out immediately. As for McGeady we dont need him, simple!

Looks like Nadir Belhadj is back on Harrys raidar after that spectacular goal he scored against Liverpool on saturady. I think he would be a great signing as his pace is ridiculous!

Keane is attracting interest from Aston Villa, Celtic and Sunderland thoughts?

I don't think we should let Keane leave. Some fans hate him for the trip to Liverpool but everyone makes mistakes. To be honest I was baffled when he showed courage to return to Lane. Despite the Dublin trip I think that Harry Redknapp rates him and I don't think that now that Pavlyuchenko is probably leaving he would let Keane leave.

Harry has said that the core of the team will NOT be broken up, and I believe him. He has also said that he is not looking to buy any players in the Jan window, and yet only a few weeks before he said that he felt that we were weak in the CM area. That could mean that O'Hara could be coming back due to the transfer embargo that Portsmouth are currentley under.

Today the papers are saying Bentley to Sunderland or Athletico Madrid on loan. What is it with Sunderland buying all of our players!? It would be good to see half of what we paid for him returned.

They were talking about a swap involving Kenwyne Jones and Anton Ferdinand in the Sun. It wasn't made clear if they meant both of them for Bently or an either or deal. I like Bentley If Lennon hadn't improved so dramatically I think he would have got a lot more match time. And with Lennon now out for a few games he should get a chance. But no matter how he does i dont see him keeping Lennon out. However the aforementioned players are no better than what we already have so we would be better of getting the cash and looking elswhere in my humble opinion
