Mido And What He Thinks Of His Current Situation
« on: May 21, 2007, 08:22:45 PM »
Quoted Off Sky Sports:

"Yes I had difficult times this season with Spurs but I am eager to bounce back and get back to my normal form.

"Every player passes through hard times in his career.

"The important thing is that he must have the will to come back."

Mido signed a five-year deal with Spurs last summer, but he has admitted he made a mistake in committing his future to the North Londoners.

He added: "The hard times started with me making the wrong decision. I made a big mistake when I signed permanently for Spurs.

"This is the first time that I announce this and I know that this could result in problems but it is the truth and I have to say it.

"Firstly, I spent a very good loan period at Tottenham. We ended fifth and qualified for Europe and I was one of the top scorers together with Robbie Keane.

"At the end of the season, I had many options. I had the option to return to Roma which is a very big team and they ended second in the Calcio and I also had other choices.

"Officials at Roma begged me to stay and so did my agent Mino Raiola but I decided against all their advice to sign permanently for Spurs.

"I wanted to join Tottenham because I loved the club and wanted to be there, particularly in London, and so did my family.

"It wasn't the best decision I've made and I am not going to repeat these kind of mistakes again."

When asked about his future, Mido added: "I am contracted for four years with Tottenham. But if I get a good offer, then I will be in another place next season."

I kind of feel sorry for him being 2nd choice to Berba and he's played a few decent games (but then again he's missed open goals and a lot more!). Although I think that's a lie about how much Roma wanted him.

Your thoughts...

I don't feel sorry for him at all. He knew he would be second choice to Berbs, he said it him self after he signed a permanent deal. To say something like this is basically just a ''Come and get'' me plea.
He has also been absoloute tripe when he's had his chances, I mean, he can't even score against Watford. Yeh yeh, he did score against the scum in like, the 89th minute. But it still never got us to the final.

Well it looks like hid bag is packed. Plus he was inches from signing for City in January.
I do think Mido is a good player on his day. unfortaunalty we havent seen much of these this year for what ever reason, whether it be injry or Berba lighting up the score boards.
Like every player you need games to get match fit. We are all aware of what he is capeable of doing when match fit (2005-2006 season - around 12 goals).
Unfortunalty we are also all aware of what happens to him when he isnt match fit, the weight piles on, his hunger seems to die and his confidence drops.

SO...

If he feels he has indeed made the mistake signing for us long term then its obvious his heart isnt here anymore and should be allowed to leave with a suitable replacement brought in.
Who ever it be i hope its NOT Darren Bent.

It looks like Mido is on his way out I don't feel sorry for him didn't I know when we signed Berba way before that if he came back he would be second choice to him (Berbatov). So why regret it when he knew he would have been 2nd choice. I do agree he is saying to any club out there "Come and get" me plea.

He is rubbish but has done good in some way like scoring past Wet Spam a game we won. Should have scored against Watford but couldn't. But if I look on the bright side he did score against the scum but it counted for nothing did it get us in the final no it didn't.

Basically what I said ;)

Mido wouldn't be here if Berbs wasn't injured for the CC game.
He also wouldn't have half the goals he does have if he wasn't injured.

Get rid now, while we can make a profit. They guys a troublemaker.

It did seem like a good signing at the time but he only has himself to blame now imo. He's had chances to prove himself but nearly every time he let himself down so of course other strikers are gonna get picked ahead of him, especially when they're a million times better! Good riddance and take Ghaly with u!

Mido's game is not the way Spurs want to play, I could believe we signed him on a contract.

To be fair as a few others have said he has not had much of a chance, but when he did play he looked overweight, slow could not hold the ball up in fact he looked nothing like the player he was when he was playing for the contract.

Question is why did he not go to Man City? we will never know, but unless he takes he chance when he plays he will always be fourth choice.

As for the comment re Roma if they had wanted him he would have stayed with them make no mistake.

Mido you are the weakest link GOODBYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He didn't move as Jol pulled the plug on him leaving right at the last second as we needed him to play that night against the scum as Berba was injured!

In heinsight (spelling lol) im quite glad we kept him in January otherwise Mido wouldn't have flicked those two balls on for Keano, and he prob wud have not smashed those 2 wonderfull volleys against Fulham!

He can leave now he's sed that, his hearts not here no more!!

I dont mind Mido leaving. If he is unhappy at not being in the starting line up then it's best all round if he goes. My problem with his comments is that any other striker we are looking to sign may read what he's said and think twice before signing for us.It will be very hard for anyone coming in to displace Berbatov or Keane when they are fit.

Mido does seem to put on weight when not playing regularly, and loses his sharpness.  I do not feel he has the will to fight for a starting place.  I do expect him to go soon.
