Isn't it about time we had a statue at White Hart Lane to commemorate one of the real legends of English football, Bill Nicholson?
If any of you don’t know what he did for the club, he gave 68 years service to Tottenham Hotspurs, as a player from 1937, and as manager from 1958 to 1974. He led Spurs to the first English league and cup double of the modern era (1961), and the first European trophy by a British club in 1963. In all he won us the league once (the 1961 double), the FA cup 3 times, the league cup two times, the European Cup-Winners’ Cup (1963) and The UEFA Cup (1973).
There’s a petition doing the rounds at the moment, I urge all true Lillywhites to sign it, and please pass this on to other fans and forums.
http://www.petitiononline.com/sga77827/petition.htmlThe petition reads:
To: Daniel Levy (Tottenham Chairman)
This is a petition for the Spurs board to have a statue of the legendary Spurs manager Bill Nicholson built just outside or within White Hart Lane, with a small plaque underneath the statue with one of his famous quotes in.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
(sorry for the grammer and spelling, but it wasn't written by me! )
