Berbatov, Lennon and Keane, all good players and signings but there maybe a bit of shortsightedness going on here.

I can only go back to 1981 so that rules out a good few I cant speak on, but Ginola should get a mention, he got us through a few lean years single handed.

Lineker was class for us, as indeed Gazza, but for me it has to me Klinsmanns first year, but another like this season for Berbatov and I would revise that statement.

Lennon for 1mil is a pretty damn good signing. Also berba for 10.9 is one of the best our club will ever make.

Lennon £1M done good business there he is just a great signing. As for Berba £10.9M brilliant buy and scored 23 goals in his first season.

You could argue Carrick was.

I forget how much he cost, but certainly recall what he recouped.

But I guess thats not quite the spirit of the question.

Greaves Klinsman and Berbs
But IMO Keane is the best buy of the lot. My personal favoutite would have to be martin Peters though
