Seems to me Bent will join us now - here's hoping anyway - though I don't want it to drag out till Aug 31 - we need cover in for Berbs by Aug 1 - so our team can hit the ground running

BBC say Liverpool are also after Bent.  I believe he wants to come to us, but it will all be down to agreeing personal terms.

Seems he isn't after the money, turning down £70k a week from West Ham. Good to see he's ambitious and wants to move for footballing reasons.

Yes we paid only 10 mil for Berba.....but we all know that he is worth triple that now. The fact is what we paid for him was an absoloute bargain....so Bent for 10mil....not far off what I would pay for him especially if Defoe leaves

Saw on sky sports news a few minutes ago, they said if we get Bent it will leave the door open for Defoe to leave. With Villa being his main destination, for around 12mil.

I would prefer to keep JD than have Bent at the Lane but...

I would love Bent to come at the right price.

It's more obvious that even if we sign Bent it will put Jermain more down the pecking order. I have heard of Villa's interest but there are other teams too with the likes of Portsmouth interested.

Bent costs too much! he will be third/fourth choice striker and he has got a stupid price tag on him (something like 17m :S). Imo we should spen that kind of money on a position that needs it.

At the moment we have no cover for Berbatov - possibly Barnard but that's a big ask for Lee - though I'm  big fan of his

Therefore if Berbs gets seriously injured Sep 1 or thereabouts if we haven't got Bent or someone like Nugent etc in then for me anyway we're done for, as far as top 4 is concerned

Getting in cover for Berbs is an absolute priority

Of course if you believe that JD and RK can play together consistently well and effectively then you'll disagree - but I don't think they can - and far more importantly Jol thinks the same way (IMHO)

Bent Signing In 48 Hours
« Reply #55 on: June 16, 2007, 11:01:18 AM »
Bent is reportedly coming 2 spurs in 48 hrs!

It looks ashtough were offering charlton £12 million and 2 players (Murphy + ?Routledge?). Although we may have to cough up more cash, as Charlton are unsure whether Murphy is good enough.

I think this Bent debate is odd.

I've been trying to think why we're even bidding for him.  Bent is a good player and i would expect him to be a first team player whoever he played for.

So, that begs me to ask the question:  Who is he going to replace?

Defoe being the obvious candidate due his lack of first team performances, hmm not sure.  Would Bent settle for 3rd place?  No he wouldn't, but he seems to want to come to us!

So, is it Defoe we should be worrying about or our 1st or 2nd placed strikers???

Well, it's not Keano cos he just signed a new 5 year deal

Berba?  Well there has been mass debate all over the place regarding his position.  Apparently he's staying according to his agent but there is that niggle in my mind that he's not a definite just yet.  I am praying though.

So, back to the point: Defoe, Berb, Keano & Bent in one team?  Your kidding right?

I have a teensy weeny bit of ITK on Bent today. The chain is my sisters father in law (who told me today) his brother knows Curbishly and had a chat to him recently, apparently he is 'exasperated at Bent' and 'cant understand the lad' as they had an excellent relationship Curbs thought a deal was in the bag, Bent made sounds he wanted to leave really quickly after relegation.

Nothing massively new, but as I heard it second hand it sounded like Bent was only exploting options but was holding out for where he wanted to go.
