I have to confess I've already began worrying about next season. The need to improve on this season is enormous and the pressure on Jol and the players to start delivering is going to be massive. I believe the core of a great team is in place and that core is King, Dawson, Lennon, Berbatov and Keane.

We must get some left footed players, and we must improve our set pieces because they are ****ing shocking! While it may appear as though we have won a small victory over "the evil top 4 that nick all our players" because of the great chance of holding onto Berb's etc, if we don't continue to improve and better ourselves, we may find Berbatov, Lennon and possibly Keane, King and Dawson growing impatient of quater finals and 5th place and this season is just prolonging the inevitable?

Also, we have to be realistic in our goals and weather or not the players at the club are interested in seeing them completed. Do we want champions league football even though there is a massive chance of us getting absolutely battered in the group stage? Will the league cup be enough to keep Berbatov and such at the Lane? Can we pull off a giant killing by winning the FA Cup?

My 5 year plan for THFC:

Year 1 2007 / 2008: 65+ points in the league, good cup runs / Cup final
Year 2 2008 / 2009: Break Top 4, win a Trophy
Year 3 2009 / 2010: Reach Knock out stage of the CL
Year 4 2010 / 2011: Win a Trophy
Year 5 2011 / 2012: Reach knock out stage of the CL, win a trophy.

gotta say thats my veiws almost exactly. This season has been an improvement but hard.  But they scraped through it, next year tho i think we need to pick up silverwear and retain 5th, then the year after get knocked out the CL and go on to the UEFA final, as i dont believe one season will be enough to strengthen and gel the team to truly push for a top 4 finish.

There are going to be loads of silly offers flying about over the transfer period but Berba will stay. He has already said so, thats enough for me.

As for progression, I would rather win a domestic trophy than get battered in the UCL. Thats not to say I dont want them to qualify - of course I do, but winning the UEFA Cup is much more within our reach the way we are playing at the moment.

I don't think he would leave for anything less then this. Well done to carrick for getting on with his carrier can't blame him but it was his transfer that brought in zokora and berba, who i think are worth double carrick. Berbs is easily worth more then carrick, and zokora perhaps a little less at the moment.

So i can't see berbatov going for less then 40m either, because i'm sure the board would want to double what they have going out. The position the club are in at the moment is quite different to say man u. Man u only need a striker to be with rooney, they don't need any other positions, other then for pure squad strenghening reasons. Spurs though, well i don't won't to see him leave but if he does i think it would actually strenghen our squad, as it would be possible to get perhaps 2 players of world class quality in his place. From abroad that is, no chance of getting that here!

I doubt berba will leave in the summer after one season with us. Already said himself that he wants to stay.

As for winning any trophy the UEFA Cup is a must and I think we can win the Carling Cup too. If we get into the CL then that will make it better.

Signing players no right footers please we need left footers in the team.

Looking at the finished league table, it pisses me off to think that if we had played well for the whole season and gotten points of teams that we really should have done for example Blackburn at home, Watford Away, Wigan away, Fulham home and away, we would be in 3rd place I believe.

Its a horrendous thought, catching Everton and Bolton from being 10 points down, if we'd played well through the whole season, we wouldn't even need points off the top 4 to get into the top 4.

So true, i remeber watching at the beginning of the season, all my mates ( most of whom are liverpool supporters) were assuring me we were going to do an everton of the season before, and plummit. Was quite scared myself to be honest!

Would we be playing such attractive football if we weren't letting in as many goals though? hope the answers yes, and the real problem isn't an inherant fault in our new style of play

Carrick is a completely different scenario. He made it clear that he wanted to go, spurs done the best out of a bad situation. Ideally Carrick would of stayed, but that's life, he made it clear that he wouldn't sign a new contract.
