Anyway, the news is that David Villa has joined Atletico Madrid. It seems he wanted to remain in Spain.

Benteke from Villa, although I'm not sure he's the one we need. He hasn't convinced me...

There has been a lot of speculation about us getting Benteke. Like you I am also not sure and was surprised when his name came up. But if we are going to get rid of two strikers then we need more than one to come in.

Seems they got him very cheap if reports are correct at only 4.4m and TBH if he didnt want to come to us its good he didnt!

I really dont know who we are to look at, Hulk not sure, Benteke gamble but worth a punt at right price as could be awesome could be Crouch/Bent hybrid.

Dzeko I would love to see in our shirt but it wont happen!

Good suggestions but I wouldn't be surprised if the next name that came out of the hat would be a real surprise.

Hulk, like Falcao, Eto'o and quite a few others proved he's just another mercenary when he joined a mediocre team willing to pay him silly money. And to be honest, he hasn't been anything special in Russia.

I'm disappointed we didn't get Villa, but I understand his will to stay in Spain. I don't know who should be brought in. I'm not keen on Benteke and as Metal said, Dzeko won't happen, though he would fit us right.

I'm not sure we were ever really in for Villa. It seems to go against our recent policy of buying youngish players with resale value. Benteke fits in with that nicely though. He scored a lot of goals for a very poor Aston Villa team. Apparently he has just put in a transfer request so something must be happening there.

I would feel very confident if we tied up a new striker asap a repeat of Paulihno situation.

I think if we nailed Benteke I would still want to see another striker arrive one with a bit more experience and then have either Ade or Defoe move on, out of those 2 its a tough call.  Ade without doubt has the goal scorer ability but is lazy so can AVB sort him out to what he was season before last?  Defoe never will be what we truly want so I would probably swing more so to Defoe moving on maybe in a part ex deal.

According to the papers he will only go for £25 million. Chelsea yes, but I can't see Spurs paying that much for him. So we better look elsewhere.
