The fact that he has tried 12 times so far and out of desperation he played Adebayor yesterday !!!

When he does find the solution, and he will, your will disappear from this forum again only to reappear if and when zhit happens again!

It would be good as a Spurs supporter to "SUPPORT" the club, the players and the manager through thick and thin!

I do believe you have.

To me, it is important to praise as well and not just criticize when the chips are down!

I think what does help and is adding to the pain is many of us are no doubt feeling that what has started with promise is now looking like it could turn into another false dawn for us.  But it could also go the other way.

I am going to reserve full judgement for a few more games, regarding AVB and his ability as a manager Man U will show us alot does he stick with the failing tactic or make a much needed change and is he able to motivate the players to pick themselves up.
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

To put the blame on AVB after such  a poor performance from our lads is just incredibly naive. Regardless of the formation, we played so badly that even a good coach would have found it difficult to deal with and to throw the book at him is plain daft!

Unfortunately, our lack of ability to score goals is showing and as result frustration is obvious. As long as Soldado plays alone up front without service, this will carry on. No doubt AVB will find a solution, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I think City have found their form and will surprise a few.

What makes you think he will find a solution ?
We have played 12 games so far and he dosen't seem to have worked it out yet !!! he hasn't even changed his tactics or set up which are not working !!!!
We are going backwards he has messed with the squad and taken away all the heart, the fire, the passion and replaced it with nothing !!!

 :'( :'(

And what makes you think we won't find a solution?

There is a lot of positiveness that can be taken out of the game. The time isn't now to criticise but to get behind the manager. Let us wait until Christmas to valuate the situation.

The fact that he has tried 12 times so far and out of desperation he played Adebayor yesterday !!!

Voice, I fail to see what positives there are to take out of Sundays debacle, there are some definite negatives, but to rehash them again is negative.
 :o :o :o

Ugs, Explain yourself, what has AVB tried 12 times? and how is it, out of desperation, playing Adebayor? or do you think that Defoe would have made a difference? personally I don't think Defoe would have? Soldado is a proven World Class Striker, he needs help, and by that I mean he needs someone to give him quality balls played to areas that will give him decent opportunities, up until now he HASN'T BEEN GETTING THE SERVICE, a fact that even a blindman could see!!

Two very valid points Paul.

There was nothing positive to take out from this game. We were ripped to shreds on too many occasions at the back and created very little when we had the ball,  you can add + Lloris' cock-ups and the fact that City were at their best on their own turf as they have been so far.

We know  AVB  makes mistakes (like all other managers, I dare say).  I still back him up and hope that Levy doesn't sack him. Things aren't good now and  would be disastrous if AVB was fired.

There are some here who would welcome the idea and I would ask them to suggest a suitable replacement (available now!) who would be good enough to take on the job.  :nods:

Personally I still think AVB is still the Man until proven otherwise and this is not yet!

I agree there is more negative than positive but there was some positive. We had most of the possession. That is where we can start from. Poor goalkeeping didn't help and an own goal.

Mr Finch my point is that AVB has played 12 different midfield combinations and so far none of them seem to have worked with any real effect and from what I can see we have no guile in the middle to force an opening. He dosen't seem to like using width and when we use wide players they seem to always be played on the wrong side and to top it off are always tucked in.
I agree with you entirely that Soldado is a top quality/World Class Striker but he is a fox in the box and requires service in front of him rather than him playing with his back to goal or he needs a strike partner to feed off. Personally I would play Defoe and Soldado together for no other reason than Defoe is scoring goals when he starts and Sodado may get to feed off of his confidence. As for Adebayor he has been training with the kids so far this season and although he had a reasonable half I thought Defoe should of been given the chance. Funnily enough our tactically astute manager took Soldado off after putting on Adebayor when Soldado must of been thinking at last someone to play up front with, quite funny when you think of it !!!
AVB bought Soldado and must of been aware that he always played in a two upfront and dosen't play as a lone frontman, but because AVB is such a technical genius he is now playing him as the lone man up front, brilliant such tactical awareness and forthought by AVB!!!

I really think there are some very deep lying problems in the changing room and after AVB has come out and said that the players should be ashamed of themselves I can't see any of them getting any better for the time being !!!

Quote from Voice

"I agree there is more negative than positive but there was some positive. We had most of the possession. That is where we can start from. Poor goalkeeping didn't help and an own goal."

Voice, Possession maybe 9 tenths of the law,but in Football it counts for nothing, you don't get points for possession unfortunately, maybe you haven't yet realized that you get them for winning games and in order to do that, you have to score more goals than the opposition, something we don't at this time, seem capable of doing very often in the PL. Too add insult to injury, we have probably had more possession than our opponents in every PL game that we have played, and to date we have lost 4 games(2 of which have been at home)and drawn 2(1 of which was a scoreless draw).
I have said on more than one occasion that AVB needs to change the way that we play, Soldado needs a strike partner to feed off, if you look at most of the successful sides, they all play with two strikers, and they have wide midfield players who deliver quality crosses for the 2 front men to attack, and they also have central midfield players who are more than capable of setting up chances as well, we also have an abundance of quality midfielders who seem to struggle to deliver that telling final ball. What Ugs said about Soldado is very true, AVB knew he almost always had a strike partner, yet for some mysterious reason persists in playing him as the lone striker.  :nods: :nods: :nods:

While the result was appalling and revolting, I don't think a manager should be sacked after a result like that. And if he was, who would you like to come in? Harry Redknapp? Graeme Souness, maybe? Let's not forget, other top teams (Man Utd, Ars*nal, Liverpool etc) have suffered similar results during the last couple of seasons.

I agree with you. Our record isn't that bad actually. We've lost 4 (the same as City) and we are 4 points behind second placed Liverpool. No manager is going to be sacked after that statistic. Let us wait until Christmas where we will be better placed to make a proper judgement.

Blimey voice, you must be the eternal optimist. 0-3 West Ham 0-1 Newcastle, 6-0 Man City, no goals for 3 games, do you really think that things will get better anytime soon ?? All I see is more of the same to be honest.

I have stated for many months now that we have NEVER sorted out our defensive shortcomings. Walker is an accident waiting to happen, the only reason he gets a game for England is because there is nobody else apart from Johnson, who is even worse. Dawson is not, and never has been good enough. He was OK alongside King, and probably would get away with it alongside Cherices(or whatever his name is) We have no left back, and our best CB plays left wing !!! They were all over the place against both West Ham, and City.

Sooner or later AVB will get the blame, for the players he brought in when Bale was sold, none of whom are doing any good so far, and his refusal to change tactics once in a while.
12 games is more than enough to realise whether something is working or not, and clearly it isn't.

Can anyone mention one game so far this season where we looked any good ? Maybe away at Cardiff, and even that took a penalty to win.

This reminds me of our darkest days before Redknapp rescued us. Lets hope that we dont have to do that again.

Lastly, I think Levy needs to take his share of the blame in all of this, and if AVB does go, then he MUST go as well.

If AVB doesn't turn it around soon I think the pressure will be too great for him.

I am an optimist. But look at the facts; we've lost 4 games (the same as City), we are 4 points behind second place and we are in all competitions. It is not over yet, however, AVB does need to turn it around quickly, as I said.

Finally someone that is speaking sense, the only problem is I can't see Redknapp coming to the rescue again, to be honest he shouldn't of been sacked in the first place !!!
I just wonder where we would be now if Redknapp had been given the same backing as AVB and allowed to go for it !!!
The situation at the moment is looking very much like the Chelski situation that AVB faced and we all know what happened then !!!
