Someone doesnt need to play for England or a national team to be a legend for us.

I rate Dawson and cant fault his commitment to the club, for me more players with his approach and attitude the game would be so full of mercs, for me this is what makes Dawson dam close to being a THFC legend.

THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

That is true. Bill Nicholson only played once for England (and he is a legend, whether as a player or a manager). However, I still wouldn't call Dawson a legend (yet).

Mabbutt only played for England 16 times in 10 years.

Mabbutt for me is certainly a Spurs legend!  Even got a winning goal in the FA cup at Wembley during his time.... shame it was an own goal vs Coventry really felt bad for the chap, cracking goal though lol .

Well today we shut out Villa and kept yet another clean sheet, we looked better with JVT at LB until Rose comes back.  Dawson Chriches did a solid job!

Good shout! Mabbutt is definitely a legend for us and we should never need the requirement of being an international hero also. Especially when you look at some of our England managers at least, there have been some strange choices in players over the years.

Also agree that JVT is our best back up option at LB at the moment.  Dawson also had a very solid game and was showing his Captaincy skills throughout.

We just need to keep the momentum going now, but really glad we bounced back so well from the West Ham debacle.
Maybe next year...

I agree, I also liked AVB's selection as well. If he would have done something similar against West Ham I am sure we would have won.

The West Ham game, though a painful and shocking defeat I think AVB has learnt something from.  He will have to keep evolving the team and techniques to break teams down and defend that is what a class manage can do and so far AVB is showing the right signs!

Dawson, although before the start of the season was not my choice for captain is proving me wrong, long may our results continue and defensive displays stay solid!

I agree that AVB had learnt a lesson. He made a few changes which made a difference against Villa.

If Defoe's chance early in 2nd half had fallen to Soldado, then he almost certainly would have scored, and we probably would have won the game.

Maybe; but I still think that we should have started with Soldado, not Defoe.

So far this season Dawson as proved me wrong in wanting another player such as Lloris or JVT as captain at this stage.

Long may he continue to shine a team captain and our defence continue to be solid!

Because of his experience and how long he has been at the club he is the right person to be Club Captain.

I didnt ask why and TBH length of service has sweet FA to do with a player being club captain!

For me what has shone through and is also likely to be apparent to AVB and may influence his selection of Dawson is his leadership qualities lead by example, never give up, loyal to the club, the cause, fully committed and reliable.

Yes there are better players technically in the team/squad even at CB such as JVT and Kaboul (barring injuries) but they lack those extra qualities that Dawson brings to the field he is a true THFC player through and through and that is a great example to others and his passion for the club also!

Thats my opinion why he is captain!
