Apparently we tried to sign Hulk on loan, but his club wanted a £10 million loan fee. Thats a joke for any player, let alone one with no Premier League experience. We are now stuck with Adebayor who probably wont play a lot and will just pick up his huge pay packet until January at least.
Should the manager use a formation for two strikers, Adebayor could get a look in.

I think AVB will stick with one up front with the possibility of changing  it as the game progresses; as happened against Ars*nal. I also agree that we haven't seen the last of Adebayor.

   So we are going to play with one striker are we, that is fine providing we have people providing him with quality passes and crosses, in the three games up til now he hasn't received too many has he? we have scored 2 goals(both pens) which is a bit of a worry, would you not agree? we have just spent 30 Mill pounds on a very very good striker, and I repeat he needs someone to provide him with QUALITY passes, otherwise we have wasted money, why not play 2 up front?

I think the only way to play with two up front and use all our 25 midfielders would be not using defenders at all. Which could happen anyway as we only have one LB who is pretty mediocre, a CB who is as slow as an elephant and a few others who will probably get injured or suspended at some point.

I share your concerns but it is early days yet. I am sure that AVB is addressing the problems and they will eventually knit into a strong working machine. We've got the right players; they just need organising.

As for one up front; we can only speculate.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

We have spent over £100M on 7 new players which is more than I have seen in over a decade. Reading some of your comments, I see that some people will never be happy!

Give it a chance for Chrissakes!

       Its not a case of not being happy, if we are going to get the best out of Soldado, he needs service, and in the three PL games that we have played it is pretty obvious to probably everyone who watched the games, that he hasn't up til now been getting it, and that is a concern. I would hazard a guess that it concerns AVB as well. I agree that the players that we have bought are all great buys and need time, but that doesn't mean that I cannot express my concerns, that surely is what this forum is for, is it not?

My sentiments as well. Without discussion or showing your concerns then what is the point in writing on this forum or any forum? Without discussing or seeing both sides of the problem we would end up as automatons.

I am not having a go, everyone's comments are important and I  also have a few question marks.

It's just that it is very early days and we all know that the work will be done sooner rather than later.

It is early days, but I am confident we will get there. If not this year at least sometime in the next 20 years (joking ;)) I am expecting good thinks this season.  :up:

They must have known the team that started the season wasn't up to supplying Soldado thats why we have now got Lamela and Eriksen. I cant wait to see us play now we have the Bale buisness out of the way and the squad assembled. Pity we have the bloody international break getting in the way of the real football and stopping AVB from working with the players properly till about Thursday week. Thats providing we get them back fit and they aren't knackered from travelling all over the World. Paulinho is off to play a friendly against Australia. So we can probably rule him out of the Norwich game.

I am looking forward to the Norwich game and seeing the new players working together. So far I've been to all the home games this season.

Good morning everyone, season upon us and this has been a very eventful preseason.
So thought I try and kick off a couple of discussions to get everyone going for the new season.
1) Thoughts on the Club actually spending Big this summer
2) Thoughts on the English players leaving and more foreign imports
3) Which of the new transfer are you excited to see?
4) £50million already spent, has Levy already spent the "Bale money"?
5) Have we strengthened in the right areas?

1) Not in the least bit surprised. It is the right time to.
2) We still have a fair number of home-grown (enough to not worry about contravening the regulations). None of the players who left suit AVB's system - the players coming through the youth set-up are being tutored to play in a 4-3-3 so hopefully that percentage will go up again. Not all Spurs fans are England supporters.
3) The one player I really, really wanted us to go for, to the point where when Willian was supposed to be signingmy thought was that he is a very good player but I would rather have, is Ericksen. Sad to see Willian has seemingly turned into a prize pratt - especially sad for AVB who considered the guy to be a personal friend, but not in the least bit bitter. For me, it worked out perfectly - Chelsea overpaid for a player they didn't really need one, in the position where they are strongest, rather than buying where needed (much like Arse*al and Ozil), whereas we got the player for a position we really needed* who is younger and cheaper than Willian but, IMHO, with greater potential and a greater goal-threat. * I consider Holtby to be proper competition for him, don't buy into the theory that he was 'crap' last year, just didn't get time, especially not in that position, so we wouldn't have been without a player in that position if Ericksen hadn't signed. But what it does give us is two very good options for each one of the three midfield positions.
4) *2 and I think that is a yes  :) I wouldn't exclude some more shopping in January, though  - especially with exciting youngsters.
5) Yes  :up: :up:

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

  He just oozes class doesn't he Southend, as you quite rightly said "a snip at 12 million" could turn out to be the bargain of the season.

VDV-esq but even better! Some lovely passing, skill, and exactly what was missing in midfield.   :)
