I do tend to agree with you Riff, but everyone who contributes to this forum including you and me are crying out for Spurs to either Win something or be considered as a TOP 3 side, and unfortunately the English/British players have not been able to deliver, either because they are (a) not good enough.(b) if they have been they have been sold or(c) we haven't been able to buy them because they are overpriced, and as a consequence we have now had to sign foreign players in order to become a, hopefully, successful club both domestically and in Europe.

AVB said that he would love to buy more English players but they were too expensive.

If we sign Lamela, Chiriches and Eriksen, which looks very likely, we will have brought in 7 new players in the space of 2 months, ie: more than 2/3 of the team. Does that put us on the same level as  City or Chelsea who have been knocked to bits for trying to "buy success"?

I know we have all been crying out for success and we don't do it this season, well.... what can I say!

What an eventful summer so far.
Need some creative players in the squad, Hopefully Lamela and Eriksen will provide this.

The sale of Bale will pretty much bankroll all of our signing this summer, I think the Managment team have done a good job turning the dissapointment of selling Bale in to a real positive in shaping a squad of possible real quality.

Also the age of the recruits coming in, mean not only are we building a great squad for the present, but this group could potentially be the start of  a promising future.

Still, I hope Defoe stays as we need some continuity. The recent form of Townsend is a real plus too.

It's a good job we haven't erected a stage to welcome our new signings. It would look like the finale of Live Aid.

You say that the new signings and possible future signings is because of Bale is being sold; however, what I read was that the money for the new players comes from a different source and that Levy didn't have to sell Bale. He's going because he doesn't want to play for Spurs anymore; i.e. his head had been turned by Real Madrid.

Just like Berbastard and Modrić. And nobody intervenes...

How we solve that problem is compete on the same level as City, United and Chelsea. And by the looks of it we've started. Another piece of the jigsaw will be the building of a new and larger stadium.

Eriksen has just signed and that should be about it for this window. I can't believe that we have actually signed 7 new players. In fact we sold one player and bought a new team! All we need now is to win games starting (or continuing) with the Arse on Sunday.

Very exciting time ahead indeed.

With all due respect mate, if you honestly believe that spurs would had spent £105 million quid without the the impending sale of Bale then all power to you brother.

Frankly, I thought that for a while and as we kept on spending I realized that it was Bale's money.  :hide:

Thank you Gareth, I wish you the very best in La Liga. :ohyeah:

I am going by what I heard and read. Also; Levy had told Hoddle that they don't need to sell Bale. Don't forget that we do have the money to spend. AVB was promised £60 million to spend plus they've made nearly £30 selling players. So yes, I do believe it.
