A theory; Spurs as a product and the transfer talk.
« on: August 04, 2013, 05:20:32 PM »
I have a theory about all this shenanigans over Bale. All Spurs are saying is he is not for sale (actually AVB is saying this); nothing from Levy or Bale. Real Madrid is the one doing all the talking and building up the Bale sale/ product. So why isn’t there nothing official coming from Spurs (apart, as I said, from an odd comment from AVB)?  There is an old saying; “all advertisement is good advertisement”.

What this Bale Saga is doing for Spurs is putting its name – a product – all over the world; fantastic free publicity. Worth billions. Whether Bale stays or goes Spurs are being mentioned everywhere. In times of any advertisement is good advertisement Spurs are onto a winner. If Bale stays then his name will be on Spurs shirts everywhere; which will almost triple if not quadruple thus making Spurs and Bale lots of money. If he goes Spurs name has been shown on every back page all over the world. A win win situation. Levy is a clever man; he didn’t become a millionaire by sitting on his arse and doing nothing.

If all this is true then I would keep quiet as well.

Thoughts?
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

As this saga has gone on and i used my head not heart I changed from "if we sell Bale thats me done with THFC and football" to after calmly thinking with a cool head on "if Bale goes we get a massive fee awesome as can invest, if he stays awesome its a win win saga for THFC"

This saga has risen the profile of THFC and Bale world wide reaching a huge audience, no doubt if Bale stays we will pick up new supporters/followers from the saga and terms of revenue will be very good for the club.

THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

Exactly; either way we should win. I see this phase as a new dawn in the history and future of Spurs.

The last thing we really need is a protracted saga which ends with Bale leaving. If he is going to go he should go ASAP £100 million is no use to us on September 3rd. Although the interest generated between Sept and Jan may well get us a half decent full back.

  If Bale is going to be sold, I just wish to Christ they'd get on and do it sooner rather than later, at least that way AVB can get on and buy some much needed players. The downside to this is of course that RM want to pay us in instalments, they still owe us money from the Modric Transfer, and they are reportedly millions of pounds in debt to the Bank, so how the hell are they going to pay for him? With Monopoly money?

Good points from both posts. We are now getting near the beginning of the season so we need things sorted out pretty quickly.

Indeed we do. If we go into the season with only the 2 we played in the centre of defence against Monaco we will be deep in the brown stuff. Unless AVB's tactic is "Where gonna score one more than you"

       I still have doubts over whether Bale is going or not, I understand from a mate of mine in the UK that we can still buy this seasons Shirt with Bales No. and Name on it, if the Club know that he is going then that is surely obtaining money under false pretences is it not???

You'd have to be pretty daft or very optimistic to buy a Bale shirt at the moment. Its not exactly being kept secret that he may be leaving. You cant open a paper or switch on any type of sports media without them talking about it . But with the clubs stance of he wont be sold I guess they have to have the shirts on sale to stay in line with that position.

To be honest if you read all the papers on Bale and Spurs anything is possible. My feelings on the matter is that it is 49-51 in favour of Bale staying.

Even if he goes does it matter if people have a Bale Shirt? I've seen people with Greaves shirts or other players that left Spurs. Whether he stays or goes he will still be a great Spurs player.

 I think we are speaking about 2013/14 shirts rather than vintage ones.

Do you mean like an "investment"? buy the shirt now and wear it in 10 or 12 years time when Bale has retired!

I was speaking the same; people always put their hero's on current shirts.
