Dempsey back to the USA

Looks like Dempsey is on his way home. After a mixed reaction from most Spurs fans, are you happy to see him go? Do we need to replace him with a younger player or will Kane become the 4th striker?
Maybe next year...

I'm not happy as again we seem to sell/let go more than we bring in. Dempsey was a good squad player who scored many important goals. As there are rumours of Adebayor and Defoe also leaving I can't understand what's going on. Talk about putting all eggs in one basket...

I agree he was a good squad player, but at the same time I saw him as an emergency stop gap filler. Anyway, he is gone and hopefully there will be more players joining Spurs.

True, Dempsey was OK and score a few good goals, but If we really mean business, we need better players than him and I dare say that that's exactly what Levi & Baldini have in mind. There will others to follow.

I am more optimistic this season than I have been for many years. I fancy us winning something and finishing well above 4th position; with or without Bale.

Dempsey always looked grumpy though.Still a little sad to see him go, he did score some very important goals in big games. I always felt a little sad that he never played with the free spirited style and confidence that he did in his time at Fulham. Similar situation to when Piennar joined us for a short while.

For what we want to achieve we need a strong squad with quality in depth, for me Dempsey still had a role with us, whether he wanted that role is another question.

He scored some vital goals for us last season and will be missed in my opinion.  Kane is looking a suitable prospect a Robbie Keane type player!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

Dempsey did what he was asked and now has moved on. What we will have is something better than last season.

Agreed. Until we sell the likes of Dempsey, Caulker, Hudd Ade @ Defoe then we will never bridge the gap between ourselves and top 3 teams.

Answer me this. Has any top 4 prem side been after ANY of our players ?? ( Bale excluded )

Can't argue with that.

I fully agree Joolz. Thats the one difference for me this window. Instead of just talking about getting rid of players who no other top 4 club would want, we are actually doing it, thereby clearing the way for better replacements.

After all, we sold Dempsey and bought Soldado. We haven't ACTUALLY sold Bale yet, have we ?  As has been pointed out elsewhere, Caulker is too error prone at the moment, and obviously feels he is too good for the bench. If he was that good a prospect, how come a top 4 club didn't come in for him ?  Same with Defoe Ade Lennon Hudd etc

I've just read that Dempsey has a clause in his contract that in-between seasons he can play in the Premiership. So we could she him back hear playing for Spurs; in theory.

Modric, Berbatov, Carrick spring to mind.

Just a footnote: Etienne Capoue (25yo DM) is on the cards to join us from Toulouse, so in effect  he would be leaving TFC for THFC!  :hide:
