Franco Baldini to be technical director at Spurs.
« on: June 06, 2013, 05:27:55 PM »

Baldini to be Spurs technical director. Spurs are set to appoint former England assistant Franco Baldini as technical director after he left Roma.

Thoughts?
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

We know what happened the last time we had a director of football (pretty much the same). They should get new players instead of staff members the club doesn't really need.

If he is given the power to use the cheque book with an agreed fund to do his business with, then I think it could work. But it will end in tears if Levy is there all the time interfering.
Maybe next year...

Didn't Harry only agree to join the club providing he had overall charge?

I don't think that will be the case. The reason is that if that happened Baldini would resign.

AVB said we need somebody in that position and a lot of clubs are using the continental system. It is only a problem if managers have a problem with it.

Yes unlike with Martin Jol AVB has actually been pushing for this appointment. Never seen the point of em myself but if it's what he wants so be it .

If what you guys say is true that AVB has been pushing for this appointment this gives me some confidence that Levy and the big guns have complete faith in AVB, so lets see them back him with a decent transfer kitty!!

I work for a company that subsidises it's enormous and expensive management structure by paying it's manual labour as little as poss, as well as having as few as they can. I am just wondering if Levy has shares ?

       Only time will tell, as far as I am concerned providing the money that they are paying him doesn't affect the money available to buy much needed players then I don't care one way or the other, but if it does affect our buying power then I think the SH ONE T will hit the fan.

But it never does. If he had invested £15m in a striker in January, like everyone said he should, then almost certainly we would have been in the champions league with a pot of £40m+. In any other business he would have been fired !!

What is important is that the club get something out of it.

That is a good point. Levy and the others are not the only ones to be happy with AVB. According to the papers Bale owes his form to the manager and that would be a strong reason for him to stay at the club.

Is the company doing well? :up:
