       Only time will tell, as far as I am concerned providing the money that they are paying him doesn't affect the money available to buy much needed players then I don't care one way or the other, but if it does affect our buying power then I think the SH ONE T will hit the fan.

On the other hand...... ;)
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

But it never does. If he had invested £15m in a striker in January, like everyone said he should, then almost certainly we would have been in the champions league with a pot of £40m+. In any other business he would have been fired !!

How do you know? Just because they purchase another striker doesn't mean fortunes will automatically change for the better. Many managers want the January window scrapped as it courses more problems than it is worth. For instance any new player coming in has to be embedded in the team and there is no guarantee that he would work wonders immediately. One could argue that because we didn't purchase that striker in January we are as high as we are. But we'll never know. :up:

We know what happened the last time we had a director of football (pretty much the same). They should get new players instead of staff members the club doesn't really need.

I work for a company that subsidises it's enormous and expensive management structure by paying it's manual labour as little as poss, as well as having as few as they can. I am just wondering if Levy has shares ?

Our turnover is enormous, our profit is non existent

Is the company doing well? :up:
AVB OUT, AND TAKE LEVY WITH YOU

Levy can't be a shareholder then ;)

Voice, as far as I'm concerned, you asked for our opinion and then started arguing with all of us. So, what's the point in giving my opinion? You can't really change my views, if I'll change them, I'll do it myself. There's no point in starting threads just to argue with people.

You are correct I did ask for people's views. But that doesn't mean you can't discuss those views that are given. It is only through discussion that we have a better understanding. I found those views fruitful and interesting. Some times by drawing people out more you can actually learn a lot. I've found the whole episode - different views - rewarding. Like people question me on here and it has made me look at things from another angle.

As for changing your views? All views can be changed if people are flexible and open enough. I've been on forums where I've changed my mind or views because the person concerned has put up good arguments. After all; that is what forums are for. To discuss, understand and hopefully come together where possible.

I do not think it is that easy to change your own or others opinions, people are very set in their ways and do not like to be proven 'wrong'. Hence why I have said that I am not out to change others minds. People will only change their points of view when they are in the right frame of mind and are in the right place to do so. Below is an article I thought was interesting. Feel free to think about where you sit in this issue, if you want to of course.

"Recent research has been done to determine why it is that people are often so committed to their point of view as being the right one, despite compelling evidence to the contrary. As a mental health professional I found the results both interesting and unfortunate because they leave little hope for the idea that factual evidence actually matters in many cases.

Nowhere does this play out more than in the realm of politics. (I would also add forums to this  ;) ) As human beings we are naturally drawn to information that supports our beliefs; this is why people form groups, whether around religion or simply shared interests. But what the studies bore out was that when presented with evidence debunking their convictions, people became even more rooted in their original beliefs either as a defense mechanism or as a form of protest.

It seems a bit silly until you really think about what it feels like to be proven wrong and what that may mean for one’s own sense of self. If you have held on to a belief about something for a long time and then you are suddenly forced to change your opinion, what does that say about you and how does that undermine your future credibility. These are all relatively unconscious thoughts which is why they are so incredibly powerful.

Of note was the correlation between a person’s level of self esteem and their willingness to alter their opinion. Those who generally had more self confidence were willing to reconsider their position while those who felt insecure or negatively challenged were less likely to budge. It often takes a long time for people to get comfortable with the phrase, “I don’t know” and even longer for people to cozy up to the idea that maybe they may have been wrong.

This is a difficult problem to tackle and it affects so many areas of people’s lives and interactions. I see this dilemma frequently when working with couples in therapy. Of course this only applies to those things that are actually factual and not those things that are subjective, where reasonable minds can in fact differ. It brings to mind the old adage, “everyone has a right to their own opinion but not to their own facts.”
Maybe next year...

        As I have stated in a previous post, if, Voice you want to debate, join a debating society, then you can argue as much as you please with, whoever you please. This is FORUM where Spurs Supporters have the opportunity to voice THEIR OPINIONS, without the fear of being maligned for them. Obviously this somewhat small point appears to have escaped your attention.

Have to admit these long winded debates between members do not make for good reading so I personally often skip them as often they are going over the same points in a different order.

Nothing against sharing opinions, reading others opinions, questioning reasoning behind opinions that are reached and sharing facts, but these almost parliamentary style debate that are appearing are boring in my opinion and often deviate from the true topic.

Maybe admin (Riff or Southend) will set up a debate section to help keep threads clear and more fun.

But seriously, who would you like to see return?

I am sorry if some of my responses go off topic and seem boring to you. It is hard sometimes not to bite when certain people make such incredulous claims or statements. I would also like the forum to return to a more pleasant arena to visit. Hence why I had some time away from it recently. What would you like to change, to make SN good again?
