Bale; is he, or isn't he?
« on: May 29, 2013, 05:08:35 PM »
One minute he is going to get a new contract with a new and improved wage structure then the next minute his agent is saying that Bale will listen to all good offers for him. Is his agent playing games? Trying to push Spurs into a corner? I noticed that one team said they will throw anything at him so that he will sign.

There is so much speculation in the papers, but nothing from Spurs or Bale himself. I am starting to think games are being played behind the scenes. I think Bale should put up, or shut up. Spurs said they want to build the team around Bale. But to do that Spurs must be sure he will stay. I also image that if there is uncertainty about Bale then top names who might sign might hold off until they know one way or another. In the meantime the supporters can only look on as useless Muppets. This is not good for Spurs reputation; both at home and abroad.

Unfortunately, we have been there before. Similar situations with Berbatov and Modric. It could be a clever move from his agent to bump up the price or for Spurs to close the door on anymore speculations by extending his contrat and doubling his wages at least.

I hate to say it "But I told you this would happen" it is not even the end of May and the papers are at it, be prepared for at least another 3 months of this speculation.

The trouble is you don't know who to believe. Until the player or a player actually signs then it is just paper talk. But I can't see how any manager can build a team around a certain player until they know he has committed to the club.

On a more positive side (if you can call it a positive side?) the money you would get for Bale and what Levy would put into the pot already you could build a fantastic team. We've got the manager and structure; the right players would be the icing on the cake.

I agree. With that kind of money we could buy 2 or 3 excellent players and adding who we do intend to buy now, it would be good. In fact either way would be good provided that the money is spent on players and not given to share holders.

Having said that I would prefer Bale to stay by far.

I agree on the first option, would accept the second but not the third; share holders.

I've been saying that for ages. Nothing is happening until it has been confirmed by the club.

The only problem with looking on the official website is that it rarely tells us anything new or information that we want to find out about. The club should communicate more freely with the fans and try to counter this paper talk with their side of things. But usually we hear nothing officially from them, before we hear it 'officially' from the papers. (This is not a harry opening debate statement) But remember how we never heard anything regarding Harry's departure, no explanation at all?

AS a side note I think our official website is rubbish! It is so dated and not easy to navigate around, there are too few updates made and could offer so much more to fans wanting to find information about the club and players etc.
Maybe next year...

I think Bale would sign a new contract at Spurs IF he see's some quality investment in the playing staff and some ambition from our two bob chairman !!!!.... 3 or 4 decent signings in positions that will benefit the side .. i.e Strikers !!!

Otherwise I expect he will be booking Spanish lessons in the next few weeks !!!!

I agree. Even the Spurs apps don't really tell you anything. I prefer looking on the BBC website or using the BBC app.

It is no good signing Bale if Spurs aren't going to invest in other areas. If they are not I would rather they take the money and put it  to a worthwhile cause.

Not at all. I've accepted the limitations we've got at Spurs - compared to other clubs - and the only way we can compete with the top 4 is either by a billionaire taking over (which I would support) or Levy builds a new stadium to bring in more money.

I've also constantly said that were Levy has gone wrong isn't in his spending but the crap managers we've had under him. Harry did a great job but I believe was limited and now I believe we've got a better manager in AVB; but he won't stay unless we start investing in the team. To be honest it is a double edge sword. Levy needs top 4 football otherwise we won't get the support to fill a new stadium. And a news stadium can only go with a top 4 spot.
