For me Dempsey hasn't lived up to my personal expectation but his contribution on many occasion has been extremely valuable, he is a good addition to the squad and his strike better better than that of our strikers.

I was never convinced about the signing of sig, especially as a replacement for ratty, again he is a decent enough squad player and can contribute well.

I think right now most of us are shyting it big time, could be a case of so close but finish so far and then there is the wait of what will happen during the transfer window with in's and more worrying outs.

We have the basis with the majority of our current squad and manager to really build something special and challenge, but we all know it depends hugely on where we finish this season, i see it as potenially 2 steps forward if we finish top 4 or 2 steps backwards if we dont, that is how important i see this seasons finish to us!

Final point to consider also is look what we have managed to achieve this season after shipping out quality key players from our squad and bringing in new blood, not to mention long term injuries to key players, considering those aspects so far the season has been a success as well as the usual rollercoaster.
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

Good points Metal.

IMO, Demspey has been as good as he can be, he has shown passion and a will to win and has saved us on a good couple of occasions. The same goes for Syg. I never expected either of them to become sensations over one season. We have to look at their price tags and the club where they came from to weigh their value as  players.  IMO, they have performed better than most squad players as some of have quite rightly mentioned.

It all boils down to how thin our squad is and we all know that had, we added at least a striker in Jan we may well be 2 points above the Arse instead of 2 points below.

Without having to repeat myself, injuries to key players at crucial times like Sandro, Bale, Defoe  & Lennon and possibly Kaboul & BAE have not helped either, not forgetting the departure of the sorely missed Modric and the incredibly bad overall performance for Adebayor. Who could have predicted that? I am not sure how to  describe Dembele ATM.

The fact that Huddlestone is now playing more often illustrates only too well our lack of depth. As I mentioned on another thread, I wouldn't bank on the board to splash out millions on new players for next season. Profits have been made from sales and I reckon this will be used to help finance our new stadium in due course. Remaining debt free would be a priority at this point for that very reason, methinks.
On the plus side,  Bale, Vertonghen and Lloris have been first class and without them we would probably be mid-table.

In view of all the above, I share your opinion that this season has been a success and being Spurs, has tested our emotions at every match!

Lets see if we can go one point above the Arse today at least for an hour or so and Harry's boys may do us another favour. Who knows?

Again you have it wrong Voice, the complaint that you hear from most of the Arse--- supporters is that they haven't spent that much money recently, which is why they haven't won anything in recent years, but having said that, what money they have spent, they always seem to get reasonably good players at bargain prices, unlike us who seem to buy crap like Dempsey and to a certain degree Gylfi(those were the players I was talking about).

 :nods: :nods:
Actually they have spent quite a bit, but on wages, where we’ve spent more money on the transfer market. Anyway, going back to the stadium. I read that the Tottenham board have learnt a lot from Ars*nal’s mistakes and money issues. Around Spurs stadium we are building flats, shops (including a supermarket; Sainsbury’s) which will make Spurs a lot of money (rents etc). That is why Sainsbury’s is being built first. From what I read I think this is the right approach.

I am sure you agree with me that Spurs must make money to spend money (they don’t want to make the same mistake as Leeds and Ars*nal) and having a new and bigger stadium is better than what we’ve got. I am sure the board have looked into the ins and outs of this and until we know otherwise we must believe that they know what they are doing.

I do agree with you that we’ve bought some crap players; but I put this down to the manager and not so much to the director (even though he isn’t totally innocent).

I also don’t agree that the two players you mentioned are not as bad as you say. They are good squad players with both scoring important goals (Dempsey is the third highest Spurs goal scorer).

Of course the only way we are going to find out if the board have made the right decision (over a new ground) is through time. Personally I think they have and can’t wait until they build a new stadium; hopefully then I can be a season ticket holder.

But then again, too few to mention.

Ok seems wednesdays match vs Chelski is now probably or biggest game of the season, anything less than a win and our top 4 prospects become very very poor indeed.

Not being a doom and gloomer but thats ho wit is now, anyone know the extent of Lennon and Dembeles injury??

Today result doesn't really change anything. Needed 3 win before today and we still need 3 win now.

There are a Maximum of 9 pts available and guess what, we need 9 pts to finish top 4. If we play against the Scum on Wed the same way we played against Southampton, then I think we can kiss goodbye to Top 4, but having said that, I didn't think we would beat Man City, and we all know what happened there, so I guess we are still in with a BLOODY GOOD CHANCE, at least the Scum won't park the bus, so it is likely to be a pretty open game which suits us, cos we can at least put some pressure on their defence, so

The fact that Chelsea went to Old Trafford, didn't concede and won shows they're on fire. Also congrats to them for getting into the Europa League final.

To be fair, that was probably the worst Man Utd effort all season, which was always to be expected.

As for us, for not the first time this season we played poorly but won. That is the only glimmer of hope as far as I can see.

Now, it is quite simple. 3 wins = 3rd place, some achievement if you ask me.

To be honest, Chelsea are a far better side than us, but that dosen't always guarantee a win.

Somehow AVB needs to get his tactics bang on, and motivate the entire squad to play and win 3 cup finals in 10 days.

Assuming we fail, it shouldn't be taken as all gloom and doom. The rest will depend on Levy, the board & AVB to bring in the necessary players over the summer. Like Man Utd do, we must act right away so as to get the squad ready for the first game of the season, not the 10th.

Poor Show Mr Finch, Being able to acknowledge when a person or team wins something should be the 2nd starting point of watching or competing any sport. 1st being wanting or trying to be the best and and win yourselves.

If you are unable to recognise when your competitors have done better than you it makes you look like a bad loser and instils unnecessary hatred...Unless it is Ars*nal of course and then I always want them to lose.

But even if Ars*nal won the league and they deserved it I would have no problem saying they did well and that the better team won. Denial of truth is not a good defence. So well done to Chelsea for reaching the final, You have done well to get there (especially considering how badly you played at times) But I will not care if you win or lose it from here.
Maybe next year...

I don't have any problems in congratualting Ars*nal, I just can't see the point. LOL! I did make an exception when they won the 2nd leg in the CL and got knocked out on goal diff.  I forgot who they were playing against, that's how important it was!

You have obviously had a memory lapse Riff, was it not The Scum that stopped us from playing CL this season? I wouldn't cross the street to watch either team play unless they were playing Spurs, so I certainly would not congratulate either of them for winning anything other than finishing bottom of the league, and I make no apologies either, to be perfectly honest I HATE both Clubs with a PASSION !!!
