Good points Metal.
IMO, Demspey has been as good as he can be, he has shown passion and a will to win and has saved us on a good couple of occasions. The same goes for Syg. I never expected either of them to become sensations over one season. We have to look at their price tags and the club where they came from to weigh their value as players. IMO, they have performed better than most squad players as some of have quite rightly mentioned.
It all boils down to how thin our squad is and we all know that had, we added at least a striker in Jan we may well be 2 points above the Arse instead of 2 points below.
Without having to repeat myself, injuries to key players at crucial times like Sandro, Bale, Defoe & Lennon and possibly Kaboul & BAE have not helped either, not forgetting the departure of the sorely missed Modric and the incredibly bad overall performance for Adebayor. Who could have predicted that? I am not sure how to describe Dembele ATM.
The fact that Huddlestone is now playing more often illustrates only too well our lack of depth. As I mentioned on another thread, I wouldn't bank on the board to splash out millions on new players for next season. Profits have been made from sales and I reckon this will be used to help finance our new stadium in due course. Remaining debt free would be a priority at this point for that very reason, methinks.
On the plus side, Bale, Vertonghen and Lloris have been first class and without them we would probably be mid-table.
In view of all the above, I share your opinion that this season has been a success and being Spurs, has tested our emotions at every match!
Lets see if we can go one point above the Arse today at least for an hour or so and Harry's boys may do us another favour. Who knows?
