The Ghost of White Hart Lane; in search of my father the football legend” by Rob White and Julie Welch.

John White was a great Spurs legend and Scottish International. When the double winning team started breaking up Bill Nicholson wanted to build the next generation of a great Spurs team around him, sadly he was hit by a bolt of lightning while sheltering under a tree at a golf course.

The book was co-written by his son Rob White (who was 6 months when he died) and Julie Welch who is a Spurs fan and has written a few book on Spurs and a screen play. The book traces John White from Scotland to Spurs and his life up until he dies. An excellent book of a player that should always be remembered. A Spurs true legend.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

Outstanding book. Well written and well researched. Really captures the time, the team and the person. The fact that it is co written means that there are two stories , he first is a straight bio of White the second is of a son trying to get to know the father who died wen he was still a baby.

I agree on that. I felt sorry for the son. He never really knew his father.
