« on: January 28, 2013, 03:35:39 PM »
Just got an update we have reached an agreement for the immediate transfer of Holtby, good news but we need a striker and who will be making way?

Just saw that late morning. Small consolation and as you say, we still need someone up front!

I wouldn't say it was a small consolation but a good buy. As for a striker; there is still 3 days to go.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

AVB said publicly after the Leeds game that Spurs have NO intention on signing a striker. That's SCARY
AVB OUT, AND TAKE LEVY WITH YOU

This is what one of the papers said:

"Andre Villas-Boas believes Tottenham are unlikely to recruit in the January transfer window, even though he was left without a senior striker in Sunday's FA Cup defeat to Leeds. "

"Unlikely" doesn't mean it was positively ruled out. Anyway... whatever the truth is we will know in a few days.

Holtby 20 years old dont think he will be bringing bags of experience to the team, left on a free other clubs were not exactly clambering to sign him.

Another midfield player just what we need!!! ::)

I think this is more of a buy for the future.

Typical Levy we need a playmaker to replace Modric so he gets a 20 year old kid on a free, no sorry apparently we paid £1.5 million to get him now !!!! What a waste of money should of just waited until the summer and used the £1.5 million for a decent strikers wages !!!

It also transpires that we are in for Damiao, Why now? Why not on the 1st of Jan?  bet we just miss out due to work permits or medical etc etc just making waves for the sake of looking like we are going to do something !!!!

Seeing as you know so-much about  what is going on behind the scenes have you ever thought of applying for manager? Or better still; owner. Then you can do a better job.

 :nope:

What transpires is the papers are just speculating. What also transpires is that people are taken in with what was said in those papers as gospel. The truth of the matter is we haven’t got a clue to what is happening, said or objectives of AVB and Mr Levy so we draw our conclusions based on how we view Mr Levy and Mr AVB because we regard ourselves in a better position than those that are actually in the know. It must be a hard job being a supporter…. Maybe we should apply for an easier job like actually running the club or managing a team.

The truth of the matter is we will have to wait and see and make a judgement at the end of the season.

Well I for one am looking forward to seeing what Holtby is all about. One thing is for sure, he cannot be any worse than Bentley/JJ/Hudd.
As for Damaio, as I understand it there are issues regarding who owns what of him ( typical these days ! ) as to whether a sensible deal can be done.

To all the AVB / Levy knockers, can anyone name a top striker anywhere in UK / Europe, who would be suitable for the prem immediately, who is actually up for sale ??

Gary Hooper. Personally, at this stage of the season I would take a punt on him. He is just the type of CF that we need without needing a language coach into the bargain.

I am not knocking AVB what he has done to date is ok

I cant name you a striker, but within a football club there are people who are paid big money to work for the club to find these players seems to work at other clubs players come in who you have never heard of some are good some are poor Spurs just cant seem to find any!

Spurs have a good youth policy Harry Kane is on loan he should be given the chance and there must be at least a couple more who could be given a chance, I think the biggest frustration for supporters is that when you watch the games it is so obvious that Defoe, Adebayor, and Dempsey waste so many chances through poor finishing and at times their contribution in games is poor.

      Again Voice you have to slag off someone who doesn't agree with your philosophy on Spurs, you just don't get it, when will you realise that not everybody shares your views.

Isnt that just what a forum is about to express and share different opinions, views and beliefs, it would be shyte if we all had the opinions and feelings!

Personal insults I dont agree with and yes I do them but only when I have had a gut full of moronic forum behaviour !
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

Actually you got that wrong. I prefer somebody not agreeing with me; you get a good debate. I welcome your different views, where you went wrong was nailing your colours to the mast so anything you say later will always be tied to those comments; i.e. “you don’t like AVB and never will”.  As for me; there is only one thing I support and that is Tottenham Hotspur; managers and directors are only guardians of our club.
