When I was growing up Liverpool were the side to support. The Chelsea/Man utd / now man city of their day for fickle kids. So if it hadn't been for my Dad, I wonder if I would have followed the masses. But then I think that is ridiculous, I am not a sheep. So I guess I would support my local side Southend, which is really the only thing to do when you have not been influenced by your family or the attending of your first live game, which does not take in geographical circumstances. Not sure I would like it that much though, as they have been up and down the lower leagues for years. They are my second team if you like and keep an eye an them, occasionally I go and watch them and would want them to beat any other team. (except Tottenham of course).
However, if we are talking about looking at a team that we would be happy to support, due to respecting their way of running and getting to watch good football I think there are two candidates. at this moment in time I would say Swansea. They have a good ethos for playing good football, with the chairman selecting managers that will play to that style. The other would be Everton, do well on a low budget so have an excellent team ethic and would expect one day for it all to come together at the right time or to suddenly get some investment and they could put they potential into action.
