Alan Sugar's autobiography; what you see is what you get.

Alan Sugar: what you see is what you get. My autobiography.

I must say this is one of the best autobiographies I’ve read for a long time. I bought this mainly because he was a director of Spurs and I wanted to hear his version of what happened between Venables and himself. I must say I was a writer for various Spurs magazines at the time and was also one of a few writers who actually supported him; over Venables. His conclusion was basically what I said at the time; that Venables was one of the biggest crooks going. If Venables had won his court case for Spurs then their would be no football ground there now.

He talks about how being a director at Spurs effected his other business; and being a ‘one trick pony’ himself.

He talks about his early days growing up in London’s poorer district. Starting out in life as a seller of aerials from the back of a van. Building Amstrad up to a multi million pound business. His working deals with Rupert Murdock and he also talks about his failed business adventures. He talks about his family and his wife.

Sugar also talks about doing the Apprentice (which he wanted to do) and the goings on behind the scenes. He talks about becoming a Sir and then a Lord. He also talks about being out spoken.

An excellent book.

I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

I like Alan Sugar, stopped THFC from going down the toilet after Irving Scholar stuffed things up.

Moved on at just the right time IMO too!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

I thought people on here were interested in Spurs related stuff; your sarcasm would suggest not. Maybe you are suggesting I found another Tottenham forum were Spurs fans might be interested? There are plenty out there.

Look at the bright side; at least we got him as a director, not Venables. For that he is worth what he got for his shares.... and book ;)

Good businessman but a little niave when it came to football .He thought he could do it on the cheap and didn`t see why he should pay "carlos kickaball" thousands of pounds per week to do what someone in the second division might be able to do .I admired his principles but unfortunately it doesn`t work like that .
If your not spurs you`re dead to me

I remember that interview he gave it was at the same time he offered the interviewer Jurgen Klinnsmanns signed shirt after his second spell with us as Sugar said he wouldnt even wash his car with it as I think they parted on a sour note.

I think it was the first time as he had to eat a lot of humble pie when he re-signed because of it . As i said i admired his principles regarding money and greedy players but that`s just how football works . It`s apity there are`nt more chairmen like him .

I agree that he was naive about football, but the good news was that h did lay the foundations for a better future. Another good thing; at least he won in the battle over this club and not Venables. If Venables had won I doubt if we would have a club now.

I think Sugar was exactly what we needed at the time. The fact that he was able to get out, having left Spurs in a better position than when he started and made himself a profit. Fair play to him.
Maybe next year...
