After having watched Holtby's introduction in the 2nd Half against Norwich, I really think that he will allow Bale to play a more centrally attacking role, which will give us more attacking options, this could possibly be the reason why we never bought another striker, his one touch passing was exceptional, everyone found its target, and his first touch was also good, he really looks to be an exceptional talent.
He might just be the playmaker we have been craving, I hope I am right, but we shall see.

The first sentence of your post really sums it up. This time I'm really disappointed in Levy. If this really is true that we failed with a late bid for Leandro Damiao, then no f**king wonder. One cannot expect to sign a player from another side of the world with a bid that's made about two hours before the window is shut. Seems as if he finally realized that we needed someone and started panicking. And not even Hooper... One of the reasons we failed last season was that the squad was awfully thin and it seems the club have yet again stepped into the same hole.

So, here's our squad:

GK - Lloris, Friedel (two keepers may not be enough)
RB - Walker, Naughton (Naughton is a RB, Kaboul and Gallas can play at RB as well)
CB - Dawson, Vertonghen, Caulker, Gallas, Kaboul (injured ATM)
LB - Assou-Ekotto, Naughton (Naughton has played at LB this season, Vertonghen and Gallas can play at LB as well)
RM - Lennon, Bentley (I'm not sure whether Bentley is still in Russia)
LM - Bale (some of our midfielders can blay at LM as well, but are clearly as efficient as Bale)
CDM/CM/CAM - Parker, Huddlestone, Livermore, Carroll, Dembélé, Sigurdsson, Holtby, Dempsey
ST - Defoe, Adebayor (Dempsey has played up front for us, but he is an AM, not a striker)

All in all I'd say our squad is still awfully thin. Two or three injured defenders and we'd be in a tight place.

Riff,
You are correct in saying that our squad is thin, but I think Holtby's signing does give us some options, I was really impressed with his cameo performance against Norwich, and I think that he really could be the difference.

I really thought that this time around suitable investment would have been made to support AVB who clearly is up to the job and would be able to achieve the CL goal if he has the squad and players to choose from.

Get ready for Europa league and Bales departure next season!

By the way, Willian who has been rumoured to be on our radar joined Anzhi Makhachkala instead. Says a lot about him.

Disappointing that we didn't bring in a striker, but wasn't really expecting one. The last minute bid for Damiao seems a little pointless.
Togo are through to the quarter finals , with a good chance to get in to the semi finals too .
Only positive thing is that none of our other rivals have really bought and improved, so it's as we all are

Stop dreaming guys !!  Willian will never be a Spurs player and neither will Diamio.  As soon as they are available they will be snapped up by City or Chelsea, we can't compete with the wages.  We may as well have made a bid for Messi !!!  When we qualified for Champions League with Harry did we buy a decent striker then? No !!

PF I have been saying don't expect any major signings since the end of december because like you say it's no surprise fhat Levy hasn't backed his man for the last 4 years!!!
I was even ridiculed by a certain member of this forum telling me I know nothing about my club, but AVB statex in an interview that we would make no major signings.... funny how that member has gone very quiet !!!

Didnt he go for a bid of 34 mill as well as massive wages!

And as far as Damiao apparently we didnt meet the valuation requested of 20mill, levy probably offered 1.5mil, Bentley and a packet of peanut M&M reduced for quick sale.

Nothing wrong with dreaming a bit, is there?  :'(

I knew deep down that we would get nowhere and as you quite rightly state, the likes of Damiao will sign or a bigger club when free to do so.  Even if we do remain in the top 4, it is plainly obvious that Levy will never spend big bucks. We will now see if our skinny squad will hold on until May. AVB is good enough, but will the players give him their all? :-\

If we lose to WBA on Sunday, I can foresee an avalanche of points dropped like last season at the same time. If we win, I believe we will carry on winning.

Am I still dreaming?

I will also go along with that. I noticed that Spurs have recalled Kane from Norwich.

Levy did try to get another striker - according to the papers - but it fell through. I still believe that our squad is strong enough to finish in the top four.

Well, Kane has bags of potential, but he is nowhere ready yet to terrorize defenders of EPL and Europe.

I wonder which member that was? If that member was me; I can't be on 24 hours a day waiting for you to reply to me. You should know that I always - ALWAYS - reply to anybody who disagrees with me.

I am not actually sure what you want me to reply to; Yes AVB did say that he wasn't going to make any major signings, however, that statement wasn't actually true because Levy tried to sign the Brazilian; sadly that failed. Also; I can’t see what that has to do with you either knowing or not knowing anything about football. What you were talking about was factual so even if somebody didn’t know anything about football they could have drawn that conclusion.
