A conflict of interest.

As I am writing this I find myself in a rather difficult position. I have just witnessed another Spurs victory, taking us back into the top 4 on the same points as Chelsea and AVB is on the way to receiving my full support. Winning against Stoke will mean he has achieved 15 points from the games up until Christmas. If we lose or draw I will hold off judgement for a while longer.

It would seem all is well and you just cannot argue with the facts and figures. Even Baldbloke will have to eat his hat if we maintain our current win %!

So why the conflict of interest?

Well, my interest is that Spurs achieve and move forwards to greater things. However, the game against Swansea was rather uncomfortable and to be fair to MR B, the football is not pleasant to watch. Our passing is slow and uninventive. Our movement off the ball is ridiculously non-existent at times, too many players just walking from  one place on the field to another. When someone does run with the ball, aka Lennon. He rarely had anyone to give him an out when a cross was not possible. Naughton looks like a duck out of water. He cannot cross, pass or move to anywhere useful, we desperately need BAE back, or play Vertonghen there.

I appreciate that Swansea parked the bus, but we did make it hard for ourselves. Without Bale, we lack penetration, guile, class and power. If we are going to keep playing this way and winning, I will keep giving my support. But it will not be as enjoyable as I would like.

We used to play great football at times but it won us nothing. Maybe we need to get gritty to win a bit more and then the good play will hopefully follow.

I think the team needs to win more and confidence from wins will make our tactics more attractive. And, as has been said before - I'd rather take an ugly win than play beautiful football and lose.

Some of you will only be happy until  AVB win the EPL by 10 points and "Reserve your judgment" until the last game, and if we did win (which we won't), I am sure that some will still say that we played zhit football and we were lucky.

So far we have been playing with a few new faces and without a number of key players and still we are in 4th place.  Bearing all this in mind, you have to ask yourself: Would harry have done better?

I agree with Dimexi he is spot on about the style and genre of football we are playing IT IS BORING and although it seems to be effective it leaves you wanting more much much more !!!!
I found myself sat in front of the box watching the match this afternoon and struggling to keep my eyes open there was precious little excitement on view and although we had much of game we laboured and didn't really create anything, it was a flash of pure brilliance by Vertonghan that won it in the end not our tactics or desire !!!!
 
One other thing that was extremely apparant on the TV White Hart LAne sounded more like Highbury, where was the crowd WHL is always loud and extremely supportive but not today. Is this something to do with the poor footballing fair on show ?
 
SpursJoolz where is your evidence to prove that 'Arry wouldn't do any better that is just your opinion which I feel is very harsh, if it wasn't for 'Arry we wouldn't be where we are now !!!!

I've been saying the same thing for ages. Good football is good with results, but nothing without them. Gritty or poor with results is better. It is about winning, high positions and trophies.

I was at the game today and I thought we did well. Swansea tried to close us down and we had to play the way we did to combat them. We finally got the goal we deserved. Another win and 4th place. We are going into Christmas in a strong position. Next week Stoke at home and probably some new players in the New Year. Plus a lot of our injured coming back.

I think this might have been one of those games that Bale wouldn't have really gotten into. I don't think he would have had any space to make those runs he's so good at in open games. Perhaps when they started going forward more, but I suppose it's speculation either way. They might have been even defended more were he in the team.

I know what you're saying, though. I get the feeling that something is missing with how we play in games like today. There wasn't much urgency or fluidity going forward. I don't know if that's because they don't know where to expect forward runs to come from or because we're lacking a playmaker to glue everything together.

This was a tricky game though. Swansea have made lots of teams look bad.

Boring or not we won.

I was there and I found it exciting, but then again sitting in front of a box with the heating on can make you drowsy.

I thought the crowd was in top form. We were singing and supporting the team. Obviously sitting at home must sound different.

Your opinion is subjective as well. Granted Harry took us out of relegation but we don’t know what somebody else would have done if it wasn’t Harry but somebody else. Harry got the sack because he couldn’t take Spurs further.

I strongly believe that this season is actually the most important of the past 10 years. 

Where we finish and achieve such as CL footi is going to define if we keep key players for next season, attract the ones we want and i believe also to keep a manager in place to build consistency.

I would rather win ugly and take the points, get a top 4 place and get the prizes than play wonderful stylish football, get zero points and finish mid table!

Even though it was for 5 minutes it was great to see him back. Hopefully others will be back soon.

I base my opinion on Harry's past record with Spurs. I don't need evidence in the same way as you do not have any to prove that he would have done better than he did.

I have always given my full support to AVB and  I will carry on doing so until proven otherwise, Not the other way round.

Winning is the key. Playing well and losing is just not an option

I do like it when someone thinks that they can make sweeping statements as if their view is more accurate. I firmly believe that my ability to assess a game is usually quite accurate (I don't mean to big myself up here, but think I am usually fair, try to be as unbiased as possible, look at a number of factors, causes and a feel for what I see.)

I clearly stated that it was a difficult game to play. Swansea were playing not to lose and we had to be patient and wait for our chances. Which we took and never looked like losing the game. My issue is not that we played badly. With the players we have we did reasonably well to get the result.

I 100% do not fit this accusation. I have given my support to AVB and challenged anyone who were calling for his sack without given him a fair chance. I have also made it clear elsewhere, that I was going to wait until Christmas, even stating the points needed to gain full, partial or non support.

Despite giving my support to AVB and challenging comments made, which I feel to be unfair or without good cause. It does not mean that I will blindly give said support, when what I see with my own eyes is something I feel important to raise. The truth is that was not a free flowing, fast attacking style, which may be a good thing if you want to win more games, I get that. It just means it will not be as nice to watch.

I appreciate this and agree. I think that is my point, harry may not have done any better, but for footballing reasons I enjoyed the style of play more. As a spurs supporter I am willing to sacrifice some of this for success, but if there is the same amount of success or less, then it is not good enough. I do not know if harry would do better, in many ways it is now an irrelevant point.
