What is AVB UP TOO?
« on: November 29, 2012, 11:17:59 AM »
Why is it that when I look at the Spurs Web-Site (Media watch) that I see AVB saying that it will be difficult to keep Bale next season, what he is doing is saying  "OK you RICH CLUBS make us an offer that we can't refuse and we will sell OUR BEST PLAYER. What he should be saying is F--K OFF, we are not going to let him go at ANY PRICE, and LEVY should be DOING the same, but there is nothing from our CHAIRMAN. Does this mean that we are open to offers? If you don't believe me look for yourselves. I am disgusted.

Just read the article, here are the 2 quotes from AVB:

"At the moment he is performing extremely well for Spurs and we are amazed at what he can do for us. He is on to a great career," said the Portuguese tactician.

"Obviously Tottenham as a football club want to keep him here for as long as we can but we understand players like this have propositions and a market, which is the nature of the game."

This to me isnt saying come on rich clubs get you BACS transfer ready, it says to me that AVB knows that without THFC achieving something this season such as CL footi that we will struggle to keep Bale, is he really saying anything more than what we the supporters already know???  Then of course there is that deal that Levy signed with Real Madrid, which so far sees our players go that way now that is a real concern.

Of course only selected quotes have been printed though it would have been good to see a quote stating "we are not a selling club and will do all we can to keep our key players"!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

To be honest, I prefer truth to lies. These days every player has a price and to think that the club wouldn't move a player on for some silly money would be naive. Levy has said on numerous occasions that we are not a selling club and want to build on something here. The truth is somewhat different, though. We are a selling club like any other, just the offer must be right.

Fair point there Riff, but a phrase such as we are not a selling club is all part of "the game" every player has their price to which a club will sell, just look at Becks, Ronaldo, Torres and others.

The key for THFC is what we achieve the season as I feel failing to reach the CL will result in us loosing players and not to QPR lol
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

We have to face the fact that Bale is world class, and sooner or later will move to a bigger club, as did Modric. And who can really blame him? CL next season is the minimum we need to have any hope of keeping him IMO

It must be really heartbreaking seeing Spurs winning. Never mind, I noticed you've found something else to moan about. Keep your fingers crossed Spurs might get relegated and you can then throw a Barbie. Tell all your Brucie's how right you were!!!!!

Truth is ok to a point; the only trouble with that is it feeds the boo boys and they start jumping for joy (lovely girl!!!)

Bale will go to a bigger club at some point, for sure, but the higher up the table we get the longer he will stay with us.

Voice,
You are a really are a piece of work, what the HELL has my post got to do with me wanting to see SPURS lose, what it does do is highlight the fact that I like all SPURS supporters, do not want to see Bale leave, and I cannot understand why AVB would make such comments, I do not see other Clubs coaches making similar comments about their STAR players, do you. Once again because my views do not correspond with yours you resort to your adolescent remarks, for chrissakes grow up.If you were as you purport to be a TRUE supporter you might well share my concerns.

Just a thought, but maybe it's a psychological trick to make Bale come out and confirm that he will not leave us for Real Madrid or any other club as he loves Spurs. Just like Defoe did a few days ago.

Riff,
If that is so it is a very dangerous thing to do, don't you think. Why as Coach would you go to such lengths, why wouldn't you just ask him behind closed doors, and then encourage him to make a statement to the Press. I would have thought that would make more sense. :-\ :-\  Do you not agree. ;) ;)

Metal,
There were about 6 or 7 reports in different papers, and they all said basically the same things,"we will find it hard to keep Bale next season" and they were all attributed to AVB. Why state the obvious? What we don't need is our coach allowing himself to be quoted in this way, thus allowing every man and his dog to speculate on Bales future, because all that that does is create a similar problem to the one that we had with Modric last season, and we all know how that ended up don't we.

Each report has extra lines in it depending how the media wishes to portray the story.

AVB is basically talking up Bale, its not like he is saying he is up for sale he is too good for us!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

So thats OK is it, I just wish he would  learn some communiative skills before he even contemplates talking to the  British media, or failing that say nothing that could be misinterpreted, I was hoping that he might have learn't that after his spell at Chelsea, after all that did contribute to his downfall did it not?
