I think he is getting better with every game he plays, he has been outstanding in the last few games, even against the Arse--- I thought he had a reasonable game. So hopefully this injury isn't bad enough to keep him out of the Liverpool game cos I think we will need him, I hope AVB keeps the same starting line-up, but we shall see.

 :nods: :nods: :nods:

Do you? That is a change for the books. You were bemoaning that it was wrong for Defoe to be up front on his own. I suppose you change with the wind. What next? AVB is a good manager?

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.

And saw it through without exemption.

Return date the 9th. But will need time to get match fitness and sharpness back. Probably be a few weeks yet. Will he play alongside Sandro, and push Dembele up? Or will it be straight competition between him and Sandro?
Maybe next year...

Whichever way it is it will be good to see players fighting for positions.

Voice,
Yet again you cannot help yourself, you take an opinion of mine and become antagonistic.
At the moment we have no choice than to play Defoe up front on his own do we, or had you forgotten that Ade is suspended, I seem to remember you saying that Defoe shouldn't be in the side, or do you have selective memory loss.
As for me changing my opinion of AVB, that is my right is it not, by the way I haven't.

Benoit Assou Ekotto due to resume training next week.

All we need now is for Kaboul to return to training and we will be ready
for the Christmas "party" but he was out for 4 months starting end of August.

More Good news regarding BAE, I think even when Kaboul returns to full fitness and match sharpness Dawson is playing well pretty well and as such should give AVB a selection problem for which players to take CB.  Unless Dawson has a major dip in form surely it has to be JV and MD with BAE on the left and walker on the right with Kaboul able to step into CB or RB role?

Where did you hear about BAE? Physioroom still says no return date and they are usually pretty accurate. Hope you are correct though.

Kaboul still not due back till end of December. So Dawson will have the chance to cement his place in the side. The question is do we play Naughton at left back and allow Vertonghen to form a partnership with Dawson or do we play Vert at LB, until BAE returns?

As for the long term pairing at CB I think it depends who complements each others strengths and weaknesses. I think we would all put Vert as our key CB, what are his weaknesses and who out of Dawson, Kaboul and Caulker fills those gaps.

Dawson: Pros- Aerial strength, positioning, defence minded when Vert goes forward. Cons - Lacks pace

Kaboul: Pros - Strong as an ox, fast, similar to vert going forwards, dynamic. Cons - Can switch off, cannot both push forwards.

Caulker: Pros - quite fast, natural ability, reads the game well, lots of potential. Cons - inexperienced, passing

Maybe next year...

I don't have selective memory and I answered that on another thread. Since Ade has been out we've been winning with one man up front. Which you were against. I always thought it would take time to adapt to a new system. And now we are winning.

Scott Parker came through a full 90 minutes in a reserves match against Ipswich where we got spanked 1-5.

Good to see that progress hope to see Scotty back in the side soon to prove his worth so he doesnt leg it to QPR to be with family!

A midfield with Scott and Dembele now thats sumin worth looking forward too

I would actually like to see Sandro and Parker play deep midfield, push Dembélé up to play behind striker and drop Dempsey to the bench. As Bale is out, Dembélé could play LW as well.

If that option was taken our centre would be rock solid and able to break up opposition play as standard service.  I am looking forward to SP coming back.

He won't be ready for the Everton game but should be ok for the Swansea game. But I did hear a romour that he might travel with Spurs for the Everton game.
