Next 5 games
« on: November 12, 2012, 08:22:23 PM »
An interesting few games coming up, 3 London derbies and 2 Merseyside opponents.
So the big question is how many points will we be able to bag.

My guess is:
Ars*nal     1 point
West Ham 1 point
Liverpool   3 points
Fulham      3 points
Everton     0 points

So a grand total of 8.

Will now look forward to be ridiculed or praised for my bravery.

I will certainly not ridicule you as there is too much bullying and patronising on this site already. But, my predictions for the next seven games (incl. Europa League) are:

Ars*nal (away) - 0 points
Lazio (away) - 1 point
West Ham (home) - 1 point
Liverpool (home) - 3 points
Fulham (away) - 3 points
Panathinaikos (away) - 3 points
Everton (away) - 1 point

Interesting that nobody thinks we will beat Ars*nal or Everton. Frankly we should muller Ars*nal and give Everton a run for their money. All the other games are definitely winnable too.
The next 5 league games could shape our entire season.

It will all depend on when we get Parker and Dembele back. Without them we will struggle in any game with them we will be a force to be reckoned with. Oh and if somebody could kick Dempsey up the arse and tell him he is playing for Tottenham Hotspur and not his local Sunday team that would be appreciated.

I do think we can beat Ars*nal and Everton. Watching the matches I don't think our last defeats were as bad as the boo boys make out. The trouble with the boo boys is that they only want to see bad coming out of Spurs so they can say "I told you so". I can imagine those boo boys putting on their Ars*nal shirts under their Spurs shirts and jumping for joy if we lose and rushing onto this forum to spout more AVB venom.

By the way I also believe we can beat Liverpool and West Ham. I do think, however, Fulham could be a tricky team.

I believe that we could get 3 points from all the next 5 matches in the Premier League, well maybe Everton away might just be pushing it a bit maybe a draw there. I believe we have the squad even taking into account the current injury list to be able to outplay most teams in the League, we did last year and the only real losses from the first team are Modric, King and VDV. We have as many people have pointed out made some good signings and the return of Caulker from loan at Swansea has also strenghtened us so in theory the playing staff is almost /possibly as strong as last season.

The problem is do they have the motivation, desire and tactics to do this, only time will tell, and contrary to some peoples beliefs I really do hope that we do take maximum points in the next 5 games,. nothing would please me more than to see us pushing hard at the top of the table.

But I will say one thing and one thing only if we play anything like we have in the last coule of games this will not happen !!! That's it don't want to get in arguments that's what I think, like I say time will tell I just pray we don't slip back into mid table mediocity like we had in the first 15 years of the Premier League.

You have made rather a fantastic prediction which virtually guarantees that you will be able to moan when we do not achieve it. Hell if we took 13 points from these games we should start erecting AVB's statue pronto.

The fact of the matter is we did not last year. For these fixtures the results were as follows:

Ars*nal (away) lost 5 -2
West Ham (Home) 0 - 0 (from 2010 season)
Liverpool (Home) 4 - 0
Fulham (away) 1 - 3
Everton (Away) 1 - 0

A grand total of 7 points! So following your logic of the squad now is as good/almost as last year we should only have the reasonable expectations of achieving 7 points. If we get less than this, then yes you would have a case to be unhappy about. However if we match or better this total maybe it is time to have a rethink?
Maybe next year...

To be honest, some of these results were rather surprising or at least unexpected:
Ars*nal (away) lost 5 -2 - a bad-bad result, we actually went for a win, but came back with our tails between our legs
West Ham (Home) 0 - 0 (from 2010 season) - WH were one of the worst teams back then
Liverpool (Home) 4 - 0 - a huge surprise despite the fact that Liverpool has been shaky for the past years
Fulham (away) 1 - 3 - I really believed we would win this one
Everton (Away) 1 - 0 - I really believed we would lose or draw this one

We are jinxed...... crying into my breakfast have you seen our latest injury concerns in addition to Dembele, Parker, Kaboul:

Lennon
Walker
Defoe

If these players are out saturday I may have to revise my prediction, think Lloris may get a game in midfield lol

Oh cock. Assou-Ekotto is also injured. So, we have no right back, only one out-and-out striker. Maybe Freund will get a look in, too bad he's not much of a goalscorer. On a good side, we have four goalkeepers.

I wonder if we could field all 4 keepers, to play in goal that is.... could keep a clean sheet then maybe!

I reckon we will see Kyle Naughton step in at RB, we dont really have the depth to cover these players with quality, bit bloody worrying!

Reckon we should play the following formation and go for a draw:

4 Keepers
6 defenders
1 striker

We don't have that many defenders and others cannot defend to save their lives.  :P
