Apart from the Naughton / Lloris blunder, I thought we played well. Dawson looked solid despite lack of games. Tom Carrol looks very exciting, and can pick a pass. As for Bale, what a difference he makes when in that kind of mood. Sublime finishing from Defoe, hard work from Lennon, and useful contribution from Adebayor. If he and Defoe can start a few games I can picture good things.
It was good to see 4 4 2 system tried at home at last. If only we had started Wigan game that way.

Yep, if only we had started the Wigan game with this lineup, no doubt the result would have beeen different! Just the same we should have won and to JD's own admission, he played cr@p.

Maribor fought well, but they are a poor side and losing to them was never an option. Good moral win anyway
Pity about Naughton's back pass and Lloris blunder. What a pair of plonkers  :hide:

We outplayed Maribor last night. I thought Dawson played well, as did the youngsters. I also thought that Spurs were a bit cocky before they gave that stupid goal away (they came out and played knowing that they were going to win). Spurs should have won by a higher margin. But overall a good performance.

I have to wonder if Fabrice Muamba's showing up had a positive effect on Jermain Defoe. I read in a couple articles that they are friends, so who knows?

Either way, Defoe was a beast.

I don't think he made any difference. He is a professional. I just watched the goals again and they were taken well.

Maybe Muamba should have been invited to Eastlands
