Should Bale be sold
« on: October 28, 2012, 10:18:04 AM »
Having refused to play against Chelsea, and not bothering against Maribo, should the club cash in and buy a player that actually wants to play football for Spurs rather than to change nappies for £1000K a week.

I know there are those of you that believe that a man should be at the birth of his kids regardless, but I am not one of them, and neither are any of the blokes that sit around me. I was disgusted at his attitude. I accept that a man earning £7 an hour should take the opportunity to miss work for such an event, however someone earning top wages should give back what he is taking out. A top executive would be expected to turn up for  an important meeting under the same circumstances. If Bale really wanted to see the event, it could have been videoed and he could have watched it afterwards.

I make no pretense that I am old school, and believe that the place for a man during the birth is the pub. I watched the birth of my son, and personally found the whole thing disgusting, but that never made me a bad father.

I think you are making the whole thing bigger than it is. I personally wouldn't have chosen to play, go to pub or whatever. However, I can't really blame Bale for his decision and as the club allowed him to miss two games, there isn't much to do either. The club feel his withdrawal was justified and therefore no repercussions will follow. Bale hasn't gone AWOL or anything, has he?

Now, whether Bale should be sold or not, well, I think not. Not during the season anyway. Should he start to behave like Berbatov or Modrić, then he should be sold ASAP and new player(s) should be brought in.

If it were a game against a smaller team, then perhaps I may agree, however it wasn't, and I believe everyone at the Lane knew full we were going to lose that game without him. Like I said before, NO COMMITMENT !!

Once again you are talking tosh! Apart from the fact that paternity leave is legally binding and seen as an important right for parents to have it is also socially expected and accepted. How much someone gets paid has absolutely nothing to do with it. As for your so called claim that it shows no commitment, again your ignorant views shows a real lack of empathy, intellect or just plain old common decency. Go take your pathetic and ill judged views and tell them to those lovely men you must share company with, they must be of the same mind.

Bale is our best player by far and when he was touted as being a target for every team in Europe, he said nothing and signed an extension to his contract. There is nothing wrong with his commitment based on his actions. Like Riff said, if he did start behaving differently then we deal with it then. We do not try and create problems that do not exist, except in the minds of idiots.

No other person should have the right to tell a man that he should or shouldn't be at the birth of his child. It is a completely personal choice and that choice must be respected by everyone.

Stupid thread .Bale is a model human being. His muted celebration today when he scored against his old team showed humility and respect.
His desire to be there for his family is sending a far more positive message to young men than any game he plays. He seems by all accounts to have strong values and a sense of responsibility to those nearest him. He should be applauded for his conduct since he has been at Spurs.
If anything he should be admired even more now than ever before.
Sell him, give me strength, only an idiot would want to see a world class player at the peak of his game leave the Lane.

Agree. If he only could stop diving, he would be the real role model in the football world of Balotellis, Terrys, Bartons and stupid Twitter users.

Perhaps you and your politically correct forum members didn't mind getting stuffed by Chelsea because flappy ears wanted to watch his bird having a kid, well I did. If he was actually committed to the family project, perhaps he would have married her before he got her up the spout.

Like I said in the forum thread, a highly paid executive would have gone to work, because he would have realised his responsibilities, so why does an over payed underworked footballer not think the same ?

That child's life will not change because bale wasn't there, and to be honest fathering a child at his age and still being around for it in the next few years is unlikely anyway.  He would have been better off bunging the bird few hundred quid and buggering off.

Yes you do don't you. How unfortunate for you. Maybe you are just suffering from not being able to go on about how bad AVB is and how he will be sacked. So you thought you would put your sights on another ridiculous target, Bale.

Keep shooting in random directions with your opinions. One day you may get lucky and get one right.   ;)

Bale, without a doubt our biggest asset now at the club, a world beater on his day and way way above average on a bad day.

I would actually be more disgusted if he opted to play footi than be there for the birth of his baby, nothing at all let alone work should come before your immediate family! Baldbloke so you can relate to this imagine footi coming before you and your ball licking terrier!

The fact Bale was not on the pitch wasn't the main reason we lost to Chelsea, we were not able to cope with Mata and showed we dont have the depth to compete with teams like Chelsea, our first 11 were okay but our bench was poor noone to bring on and make an impact.

I dont think Bale should be sold, he applies himself well, has values and signed a new contract last season to show his commitment to us.  Bale is a must keep my only big concern is this deal we did with Madrid so far quality in Modric has gone their way whats come our way?

Well, whether any of us want to keep him is irrelevant, as I would think it is for certain our money grabbing chairman will be cashing in on him come the summer, and probably spending about 20% of what we get for him on new players. The remainder no doubt will be spent on his house extension or a new swimming pool.

I totally disagree that our starting 11 against Chelsea were OK, and think it looked a rather weak side.

I am sorry if I am old school, but I really don't see the necessity for a man being at the birth of his child. If he really felt that curios  he could have hired a video or something. At the end of the day child birth looks pretty much like a bad part of alien (the film). Unlike most of the people on here, I spend an awful lot of time and money watching Spurs. Every home game I have to spend 3 hours making a 120 mile round trip. I have to lay out for my train fairs, food, drink and season ticket. In short I spend about £2500 per annum following Spurs, whereas Bale GETS a kings ransom for actually playing for them. I don't care what you say, I believe  if Bale's commitment towards the club was half of mine, he would have played.

Please don't think this is a personal vendetter  against bale, I hate almost all professional footballers. Having met a few over the years, it never fails to surprise me how ignorant and self centred they are. The majority of them wouldn't pi55 on you if you were on fire, and none of them would ever consider having a conversation with the man in the street. I just believe that Bale has been blessed with a gift, that in turn has made him richer than most of us could ever think possible. In return he didn't bother to show the commitment I would expect.

That's it !!

All said and done, why do you follow football at all? If I understand correctly, the club you support is run by a muppet. Our manager is a waste of time and space. The style THFC play is crap. The players are all ignorant assholes. Seriously, why bother? Our life is short and there's plenty to do and achieve. Why do you keep wasting your time on football? You know, for £2500 you could buy more important things, or you could save it for your children, old lady or pooch. What ever, man.
