Ledley King retires

Our captain Ledley King has decided to call time on his career. A wise move regarding his long time health. Long live the King! Thank you for all those wonderful years!

Sad but inevitable. Without doubt one of the best centre backs in the world on his day.

Absolutely agree with the posts on here about THE KING who has been a true legend for us throughout his career and still has the record of fastest ever goalscorer in premiership history . All the very best in the rest of your life Ledley and thanks for all the fantastic memories and performances you gave us

It's very nice they found him a role at the club. He will be a wonderful ambassador to THFC.

A true great that has graced the Lillywhite shirt with honour and pride and I feel that he would of achieved so much more but for the cruel injury that blighted his final years at the club. There is a campaign to retire the No 26 shirt which I think is fitting as no player will ever be able to do it the justice it deserves !!
Thankyou Ledley and may your future bring you success and happiness both at the club and beyond !!!

Retire #26. 'Nuff said.

Ledley King.... seems like it's missing the letters -gend- in there. :P Should be Legendley.

Shame that injuries shortened his career, and I think Les Ferdinand said it well when he said, "if he'd been fit, we'd be talking about a centre-half with 100 caps for England." He was very skilled, but plagued by that knee. Reminds me of ice hockey player Bobby Orr (who was also a defender, and his career was cut short by knee issues as well).

Agree. Knee injuries have ruined many great careers.

In my opinion second only to rthe great mike england in the best centre half list .I do wonder though , if he`d stay fit would we have been able to keep him ? ???  One of the true spurs legends and he will be sorely missed .
If your not spurs you`re dead to me

You can stick your Sol Campbell up your Arse,
You can stick your Sol Campbell up your Arse,
You can stick your Sol Campbell,
Stick your Sol Campbell,
Stick your Sol Campbell up your Arse,

We've got Ledley at the back.

Thank you Ledley, for being more than Campbell. Spurs and England suffered because of your injury problems. But on his day, pound for pound, one of the best center backs in the world.
Maybe next year...

No we wouldn't have kept him you can be sure of that. As good as he was he would have been snapped up by one of Europes elite. The only reason he was a one club man is that due to his injuries nobody else was prepared to take a chance on him. That may be doing him a diservice, but I cannot remember him ever being linked to another club and that certainly wasn't due to his lack of ability.

TBH it was only a matter of time and I hope he hasnt left it to late causing long term harm!

Ledley is a true THFC legend and as already said on his day and when fit not many CB's in the world can match him.  If he stayed fit he wouldnt have ended his career with us as we would have cashed in.

Full respect to the legend who has played on through a crazy condition and helped us massively over the years!

I say lets retire the No26 shirt to Legendary King!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!
