Did we have a better season than Liverpool

In my opinion Liverpool had a better season than us. Their supporters got to go to Wembley 3 times and won a trophy, whilst we came 4th.

It could be said that we won more games in the league, however a clubs history is based on  what they won.

At one point we were title contenders, then 3rd place looked solid, we stuffed that and ended 4th despite a late reprive where winning our last 2 games we would have still finihsed third and stuffed it again in typical THFC fashion.

We finihsed 4th in a CL spot which is not certain until we know if Chelsea win or not.  That result could give us a huge kick in the teeth and would mean we are in the Eurpoa with Pisspool next season.

Overall I believe we have had a better season than Pisspool, as we finished top 4, kept our manager though no doubt his head being turned caused our slump, icing on the cake will be keeping our CL spot for next season.  The Mickey Mouse Cup really doesnt hold much value to the bigger clubs and is looked at more serioulsy by the smaller clubs as a route to Europe.

We are still looking a strong team as long as we keep key players, Modric will be off so he is not included in that as we should cash in and reinvest teh funds.

Unfortunately, the FA Cup has lost too much of its credibility so would not swap it for that either. If we do not get the CL it makes signing top players more difficult.

Who would you rather be, looking at next season?

Liverpool are mangerless and directionless. Also, if you look at our two styles and the quality each possess TH are a far better side and have greater potential for the future.

Liverpool did not have a better season than us, otherwise Dalglish would not have been sacked. Do you think Harry should be sacked?

No, because owners judge success in financial terms. Supporters judge success in trophies (well at least I do)

It's every man to his own opinion. I am fortunate enough to have a season ticket and therefore attend any Wembley games. For me three visits to Wembley and a trophy far out way a 4th spot without any promise of CL football. 3rd MAY have been another question. Don't forget, even if Chelski lose tonight, we still have a qualifying game to go !!

Fair point. Even if Chelsea lose and we qualify, it's very unlikely that we'll even come close to winning it. I suppose, to me, it could be the difference between more Saha/Nelson type signings and Levy actually bringing in top players for us to move forward.

Well Chelski have made the Final and I can't see any reason why we couldn't do the same with the luck they have had this year !!!!
 
As for the Scousers having a better season than us you could argue it either way to be fair we have both under achieved but also managed to achieve as well. Personally I would rather finish 4th than have a Carling Cup win at least we may get the chance to raise our profile again in Europe's premier cup competition.
All I will say is we seem to still be making progress under 'Arry even though it is now slow, very slow...... the question is will 'Arry now decide to prove the FA wrong and push on further. Unlike the Scousers who are managerless and directionless at the moment !!!

Arry has taken our squad as far as any manager could. There isn't enough quality in depth for us to achieve any more than we have already. Unfortunately, without CL football and with Levy's reluctance to spend any money we have gone as far as we can do. Next year Liverpool will have a better manager and would have spent a lot more money. Chelsea will have strengthened, Ars*nal have already bought wisely, and the two Manchester clubs speak for themselves. I believe that will leave Newcastle and ourselves fighting for sixth position.

However, if we kept the same squad we would be capable of repeating this years performance and may even pip 3rd without the England distraction. Just because other sides spend more than us, it does not guarantee they will finish above us. This year Chelski and Liverpool have done and it did not work. Yet for Man City it has; it is not just the money that counts, but who you spend it on and who decides where to spend it.

The question is, what kind of squad will we have? I think that Levy may have to finally reconsider some of his tactics, he must be beginning to realize that his strategy has some flaws, for all his good intentions. (of course I mean he will rue the amount of money he has missed out on from the CL, and may start to wish that Saha was not the caliber of striker we needed in Jan!)

For sure Harry has gone as far as he can with this squad. Chelsea, despite finishing below us, are a far better side all round. Could we have beaten Barca, then gone to Munich and won ? Face it, we couldn't even go to Villa and win when we needed to.

The question remains, what can be done.

Well I believe that football is primarily about money. In an even field, which it isn't, we would be paying Bale and Modric £ 200 k a week, and they would probably stay.

The CL is a secondary consideration IMO. Look at Chelsea, they have just won CL and already the manager is under threat, Drogba is leaving for more money, Torres is unhappy, WTF is going on ?

We have to up the ante big style. Bale and Modric must be offered £ 150 K to start with, as they are our top 2 players by a mile. Then we must set about getting a 25 goal striker, top CB, and LB and right sided midfielder.

The alternative is as has been said. Slugging it out for top 6 every year with Newcastle and Everton.
