Exactly he was an assistant manager, look at the job Chris Hughton has done at Newcastle and now at Birmingham both with difficult situations to cope with. On top of that he is an ex player and knows the club inside out also knows the chairman etc etc etc...... theres alot of worse appointments I can think of !!!!
For me it would go like this:
Capello V Chimpanzee = Chimpanzee
Chimpanzee V O'Neill = O'Neill
O'Neil V Moyes = Moyes
Hughton v Moyes = Hughton
Hughton V Poyet = Poyet
Poyet V Jol = Jol
Jol V Klinsman = Klinsman
Klinsman V Hiddink = Hiddink
Hiddink V Mourinho = Mourinho
Mourinho V Redknapp = Redknapp
I know some people would change this hierarchy and some wouldn't even feature in their list, but I think this covers everyone mentioned above. I through in Klinsman as an after thought. the only reason I pipped him above Jol was that although I really liked Jol, maybe appointing him would be like taking a step back rather than forwards.
