Yes he scored within 30 seconds and decided it'd be funny to celebrate infront of is until he got a print thrown at his head. Missed 3 pens against us too.

PS on the subject of Darren "Sat Nav where the goal Bent" thanks for buying him I think the funds used went towards the VdV deal not bad that
Bent was bought from Sunderland, not us.

We got a 8 million sell on fee though.

In terms of Bent I hope you don't take this in the wrong way as I really don't mean it as a digg, but Darrent Bent is the "top player" at Villa. He's bigger than Young imo and he needs to feel loved and need to be that big player. He was at Charlton, Sunderland and now is at Villa. At Spurs he was just another player who never really found his place. If he was in our side now he'd probably had scored 10-15 goals but I really don't see him as a Tottenham type striker and I don't regret selling him.

Also he disappointed me in the way he celebrated when he scored again us when the supporters never done anything to him.

I don't take as a dig mate, I understand your point.  However, facts are facts and DB has scored more goals than any other player (or at least 1 or 2 out, though I think he's ahead) in the Prem over the last 5 years.  Now, taking into account all you've said, shouldn't a manager utilise that rare talent and make him the star man up front, not in the team, but up front.  Ash Young has been good this season but Downing has been brilliant and with our piss poor defence we've still managed a mid table finish.  To summarise, Bale, VDV, and a few others have been awesome for you this year but imagine if you'd had Bent's goals as well....

Surely you can see where I'm coming from.

EDIT:  If MON had signed Bent instead of Heskey we'd have been in the CL by now.  Oh well............ At least we've won it.   ;)  (When I was too young to enjoy it!)

I know where your coming from mate and I agree he's been fantastic for you this season, but, I honestly believe he wouldn't work for us. Yes he'd be better than the donkeys we have but that's seriously not hard.

A 23 yr old sausage dog with only 3 legs (one missing from the front) would be a more prolific goal scorer than Crouch and Defoe  :ohyeah:

THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

Now, without seeming to be confrontational on your message board, what is Crouch's goals per game ratio?  I genuinely don't know but I have a feeling it's not too bad.  As for Defoe, I honestly believed at one point that he was gonna be a star, in the mould of Cole, Ferdinand etc....  What's happened to him?  Harry is a top manager IMO but he seems to have an issue with strikers.  Didn't you have Mido, Keane, Berbatov and Bent at one stage?  If you guys had a prolific striker you,d be better than City, in fact, if you had Tevez you'd have finished in the top 3.

EDIT:  Regards Bent celebrating in front of you, I thought that was odd (and wrong).  He doesn't seem that type of guy, it was as though he felt driven out by the Spurs fans.  Even so, that's never nice to see, after paying his ridiculous wages with your hard earned cash.  Same goes for any player.

Crouch has only score four PL goals this season which is a joke. At one stage we had the best group of strikers in the league IMO.

The fans never drove Bent out. He was backed everygame.

Just to clarify, I never suggested that the Spurs fans drove him out, I merely stated that his reaction in that game seemed to imply that he felt that way.

Like the comment about Tevez and agree - think we would be top3 or even top 2. Before the Blackpool game in March, with the "easy" games ahead of us, we should have got 3rd at least - with someone like Tevez, we would have got it. Defoe and Co missed so many chances

I know that mate. Sorry didn't mean to apply that  Not the best at getting my points across  :-[

I used to applaud when he came back to the Lane but I can't do that now.

Agree, not after the way he tried to diss the Spurs fans when he scored against us when at Sunderland...disgraceful as the fans were always good to him....not our fault Harry didn't like him!

Then again, if we had Vidic at the back............  I know you'll think this is an outlandish statement but with our forward trio of Bent, Downing and Young (Albrighton nex season when Ash leaves), is as good as any IMO.  Under MON we had a solid defence but no goalscorer, we were crying out for Bent for years, he was the missing piece in the jigsaw.  Now we have the forwards but our defence is awful.  Anyway, back to my outlandish statement:  If we had Vidic we'd be pushing the top 4 again. ............. If you had Tevez you'd be in the top 2 or 3.  Villa are not as bad as our season suggests.  Watch this space....... (I've been watching it for 31 years!  :()

Villa need more depth before they will get near the top four again.

Yes you are.  I've always found with Spurs fans that they (generally) like to give it the biggun as it were but once you sit down with them, have a pint and get past that initial bravado you are some of the nicest, most genuine fans in the country (maybe we're the same?).  I hope I haven't spoken out of turn there, it's just my observation.  I think it all comes down to an inherent self defence mechanism having to put up with all the s**t from the gooners for so long.  Every time I've been to the lane I've taken a bit of stick from the Spurs fans but as soon as they know you're a proper football fan they tend to open up a bit.

On another note, you beat us to 4th and you've had the CL experience that we craved but do you feel that as a club you are better off for it?  It seems to me that no matter what Villa, Spurs, Everton etc do, we'll always be chasing Man City, Man U and Chelsea with almost no hope of ever catching them, especially City.
