Could we accept Mourinho at Spurs?
« on: April 23, 2011, 01:34:13 PM »
I am not sure if this has been discussed before but it occurred to me the other day that Jose has always been very complimentary towards Spurs as a club and the direction we have been heading. I know that in football anything is possible, so is it too much to imagine that HR stays with us another year, we qualify for the champions league for the 3rd time in a row and is the most obvious choice to become England manager in 2012. Alongside this, Jose does not win the champions league with Real Madrid this year, but does win it the following year. He will then be ready for his next challenge.

Man Utd holds no challenge, carrying on Fergie's amazing record will not be easy but it does not further prove his ability. Chelsea is in the past, no point going back there. Man city only provides the same challenge as Chelsea did so again no furthering his CV. The only two clubs that provide a challenge is Ars*nal, Liverpool and ourselves. I personally believe he would relish the opportunity to take a club that hasn't won it before to the top and prove once again how effective his management style and coaching is.

The problem is that his playing style does not fit with our desire to see attractive, entertaining and exciting football. Would we be happy to concede on this desire, if the outcome was a premiership win, followed by success in the champions league?
Maybe next year...

Nice post. Not sure he would get the funds to buy the type of team he wants though. If we were at "our new stadium", the gate receipts would hep with big salaries, but cant see him at WHL unless he tries to do the unthinkable with a smaller budget, now that would boost his cv!

Or alternatively he comes at the end of this season, judging by the 'losing patience' and the 'taxi for Redknapp' threads. Not sure about that, personally I think HR is definitely worth another season.
Maybe next year...

God yes please.

We can't afford to pay him, we can't afford the purse for players he would want, he would fall out with Levy very quickly and his style of football would be hated at the Lane. I hope this clears things up for you !!

Maybe we should ask the question ..... Would Mourinho want us ?

....and I don't think you would like his answer, as he is now in a position to pick and choose exactly were he would like to go and we, I'm sorry to say are not high profile enough for his over inflated head !!!!!

Jose loves London. We are the only club in London that is a realistic option. Ars*nal have Wenger for life and he wouldn't fit in there. I doubt he would return to Chelsea. Fulham dont make me laugh and West Ham are in the Championship for a few seasons to come most likely. He doesn't need the money but wether we can offer the transfer kitty he would want is debateable, we do like to spend but not to City or Chelsea levels. He might fancy the challenge though and the chance to take us to the next level may tempt him. We are a club on the up and if Mourinho wanted the job I would welcome him. I think the chance to live in London again may well be the deciding factor for him. We are soon going to be looking for a new Manager when Harry inevitably goes to England so why not go for the best.

After last nights performance and comments no thanks, not only has he reduced a free flowing footballing side like Real Madrid to a kick and rush, cheating, diving and arrogant bunch of arseholes, his comments and attitude were disgraceful !!!!!!

^ this..... with bells on.

the guy is good at moving to team's which have virtuallly already built great squads and at a time when his clubhave little competition domestically eg. Inter Milan 2yrs ago, Chavs before then...... when he's up against god teams with good squad-depth he aint all that.... eg. Chavs after Utd rebuilt and now R.Madrid with Barca around..

for that reason alone even, Maureen would never come here..
