The Copa Amsterdam is a soccer tournament in Amsterdam and it will be held on 27, 28 and 29 May of this year. Tottenham Hotspur Under 18 will attend this tournament, just like other teams as AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.

What is the Copa Amsterdam?
The Gestion Copa Amsterdam is an international top-class soccer tournament for players under the age of 19. In 2011 the tournament will take place on the historical grounds of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. Grandstands and a VIP-area will be build on the athletics track, this way the audience sits very close to the field.
 
History
Many people see the Gestion Copa Amsterdam as the newer version of the famous Whitsun tournament. This event was organized for the first time in 1934 by the soccer club FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam. At first, the tournament was held at the extra playfields next to the Olympic Stadium and later the grounds of FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam were home to the Whitsun tournament. In the 90s the soccer event could no longer be held due to financial and staff problems. Only memories and wonderful stories were left of this fantastic tournament.
 
Gestion Copa Amsterdam
The Gestion Copa Amsterdam originated in 2005, on the initiative of Sander Mallie and Arnoud Lips.
A new tournament, with an historical touch. The traditional combination of Whitsun and FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam was back. Thanks to the participating top teams, the high amount of visitors, the dedication of FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam and the involvement of the sponsors, Gestion Copa Amsterdam is seen as a top-class soccer tournament worldwide. This all is possible because of Gestion Effecten: already seven years the main sponsor of the event.
 
The Return
After five wonderful years (2005-2009), the Gestion Copa Amsterdam moved in 2010 from the grounds of FC Blauw-Wit Amsterdam to the Olympic Stadium. This brought back the tournament to the place where it all started. SoccerID, the organiser, sees opportunities to organise more soccer based activities during the event. This year, the Gestion Copa Amsterdam takes place from the 27th until the 29th of May, in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.
