Good or bad Season ?
« on: April 12, 2011, 07:54:50 PM »
For me it's been a massive disappointment. The simple fact is that we will struggle to get a  Europa cup spot, let alone a CL position. We got knocked out of both the domestic cups very early and humiliated against Real Madrid.

I don't want Arry to resign, however I do want him to apologise.

Did I expect better in the league? Yes, but I blame the lack of striker for this. Everyone but Levy and co saw this in the summer.... nothing happend.... Everyone saw this in Jan but we were to busy f**king around trying to get Adam from Blackpool.

imo though, this has been the best season supporting Spurs. 5 different countries, 5 different cities and a win at A.C Milan.

Biggest disappointment for me this season was the 3-1 at Blackpool. All bloody day to get there and we the players couldnt finish for s**t. The 4-0 at Fulham was also a joke but was a great day out.

Overall I have loved this season and can't wait for the twists and turns to come.

If we get Champions league next season then we would of had a fantastic season. We won't go anywhere with this team until we get a quality striker in, and to do this we need Champions league next year.

We are two strikers and a LB from being a CL spot regular challenger. For me its been dissappointing as the expectation has been so high and the let downs so bloody awful. Poncing around in the transfer windows has cost us dearly. Lack of clarity on a new stadium will cost us as well.

In the long run yes, but give me Whl and mid table over Champions league and Stratford anyday.

Champions league football has been great to watch us in it. On the league issue we have lacked goals.
With liverpool, man city and Chelsea to play. We still have some cracking games left, which depends on them results if we get 4th,5th or even 6th....

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

I really don't get it we are still in the quarter finals of the CL with a chance albeit a small one, and don't tell me you expected us to be there at the start of the campaign. Humiliated no we had a player sent off and played with 10 men away from home for 70 mins and it was only towards the end when the lack of an eleventh man and tiredness kicked in we let the goals in. We are 3 points of 4th and 5 points off 3rd with the two teams occupying those spots both having some major wobbles and thats with our stike force not really firing this season, in my book still everything to play for !!!

We have an excellent squad with some world class players who all seem to want to play for the club and manager and I'd argue that 17other clubs in the Premiership would rip your arm off for our squad and the other 2 wouldn't mind 4 or 5 of our players too!!!

Every team has off days and bad results we are no different yes the cups have been disappointing this season but you can't have everything all at once, it takes time !!!!

Oh how short our memories are do we really want to go back to the days of Gerry Francis, Christian Gross or maybe George Graham !!!!

We have come a long way since Martin Jol and I would rather be were we are now than back in the \good old rollercoaster days of finishing anywhere between 14th and 8th every season and living off our past glories.

Support your team they didn't let us down last year against Chelski, Woolwich Wanderers and Citeh, plus they won at the Wanderers stadium for the first time since 1993 this season, what's wrong with you people we improve but it's not good enough not unless we win everything in sight, it don't happen overnight!!!

It makes me wonder sometimes why people bother to support a side then constantly slag them off, this has been a good season an adventure and it's not over yet !!!!

For me I wanted us to put in a good account for ourselves in our first ECL and qualify for next seasons CL.  So far this season we sit in 5th and are within 4 points of a CL spot (as Citeh have better goal diff so we need 4 points as it stands now) so its all there to play for.

I didnt expect us to reach the QF's of teh CL league and the games we have had and results on the way better than expected.  4-0 at Madrids home with 10 men aint that bad many would have come off worse!

I am a wee bit f**ked off with our results against lower teams and the failure to bag points playing them, super f**ked off with our lack of plan in the transfer windows, but does that make it a disappointing season for me so far???? no!

The season is not over but what will disappoint is if we fail to secure CL spot and key players leave due to this and that will not be known for some time!

Why all the gloom and doom?!

Performance in the league - Yes, I also expected more. I am annoyed that we managed to drop way too many points against opponents we really should have beaten. But as they say - there are no easy games anymore and Wolves away and Stoke away are by no means easy games. We still have a small chance to climb above City, especially now when their talisman Tevez seems to be injured.

Performance in cups - From the start it was obvious that Harry had decided to concentrate on CL. Too bad, because a cup would have guaranteed us a spot in an European competition.

Champions League - We were expected to be pathetic and take a look at us now. Our first season in CL and we have made it to the quarter finals. It has been a marvellous competition for us.

All in all it seems that people have short memories. I have been reading posts à la 'f**king Europa League' - correct me if I am wrong but a few years ago we would have been very happy with any European spot. Should we finish 5th I would still be glad to play in Europa League. We have come a long way and we all know what happens when you bite off more than you can chew.

We have raised our profile and gained respect from all those who have seen us play. We have fallen away a bit recently but are still in with a shout of CL next season. We will be an attractive option for a lot of very good players in the transfer window. Considering how far we have come I would say this has been a decent season maybe not great but in the scheme of things a lot better than battling relegation as we have in the not to distant past.

Ugs - Bingo! Thank you sir // baldbloke - Get a grip man!

The season still hangs in the balance. Our finish in the league and our spirit against Madrid at the Lane will determine how we are perceived. Baldbloke, I'm dumbfounded by your comment that to win nothing is unforgivable with our squad. I feel that we are the 4th best team in England and about the 10th or 11th best team in the World -- which is basically exactly where we sit currently. Let me quote the American football coach Dennis Green who famously said, "They are who we thought they were!". It would have been nice to maybe pick up a Carling Cup, but I can't honestly say that Spurs deserved to win the League, FA Cup, or in Europe based on our current squad. We can challenge anybody on any given day, and do so in a very entertaining swashbuckling manner, but there are still 9 or 10 teams who are simply better than us -- AND THAT AIN'T BAD. Where were Spurs two years ago?
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

Interesting stats here :- We are ranked the 6th best team this season by Uefa behind United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Madrid and Shaktar. Unfortunately, FIFA don't rank clubs but there are a host of various sites with differing tables that seem unreliable. But hey, Uefa saying we are the 6th best team in Europe is something to smile about!  :D
