Maybe they might find a way to resurrect the plans for WHL, hopefully the council and the club can come to an arrangement. Tottenham is an inner city area and any kind of development in the area would greatly help the local community, plus we as a club have a great deal of history and sentiment in the area.

GK don't bother commenting on this post as I find your views on the area offensive, an area that you have no doubt never been too so your comments are basically just an attempt to cause argument and outrage !!!

You would think that they would budge a bit and allow it to happen when it means that we'll have relocate. It seems like everyone loses if we're forced to relocate AND build a new stadium.

Onwards and upwards. I bet there's no running track at Stratford in ten years' time and that Sullivan and Gold will have cashed in on Upton Park and got out (so much for wanting to serve their community.)
As for us, let's hope this gives Haringey a kick up the jacksy and they become less obstructive and more co-operative, enabling Spurs to have a ground as first proposed (even though the public transport links will still be s**te).
They could start by being a little less rigid about the parking restrictions!

I have a feeling this whole issue may well get swept under the carpet. With no Olympic stadium and no  World Cup coming to England for some time the only reason for us to get a new ground is financial. In the current climate we are going to struggle to finance a move and the building of a new ground. As the local Council wont play ball and finding anywhere suitable in the London area will be near impossible we may well just forget about it. Unless the council change there minds I fear we may very well still be in this situation in 10 years time. I don't care about the Olympic stadium going to the Hammers they are welcome to it and lets face it they are more local than we are so probably hold the moral high ground although Barry Hearne may well disagree. But I would love to see us in a modern state of the art ground in Tottenham. However I think the difficulties we will now face may well be insurmountable. Levy may well want to move but there are not vast tracts of wasteland with good transport links just sitting fenced off in London waiting for some football club to build a shiny new ground. Christ some days you are doing well to find a space to park your bike.

Spurs cudda/wudda/SHUDDA won the bid hands-down.... and even got rid of the appearance of a running-track..

all they had to do was propose using the track-area for short-tiered 'temporary-seating' that could be removed in the close-season for the athletics.... and/or keep the area as a disabled-access viewing space.... and/or band/cheerleading area..... and/or supervised Juniors' section..... etc etc etc... any combinations of which would have made us pioneers in optimising stadia utilisation in this country..

but that would have required insight, foresight, imagination and the ability to think outside-the-box..... not exactly a bean-counter like Levy's speciality...

the mistake is about to cost Spurs around 250m ..... thats a quarter of a BILLION pounds sterling...

I read that the OS was actually supposed to have retractable seating for the running track area and they simply didn't build it. Strange how something like that could just vanish from the project charter once it's been signed off on.

maybe the local B&Q was shut that day   :P

(our United Statian associates will be somewhat puzzled by the above statement, no doubt..... even cooler )...

LOL, why would an American be familiar with B&Q? There's a Home Depot every 2 miles here.

That utter chunt from the council is going to be a smug git now (Lemmy?) bet he thinks Spurs are going back to the old plans.

My heart says i'm glad we didnt get it but like others i wonder just how badly this will impact us long term. There was a huge financial commercial gain to be made from the switch. Clubs should be ultra cautious about spending cash they dont have in their hand yet as it will be interesting to see what SKY pay for tv rights next time round. It could be a lot lower than the current deal and there wont be much clubs can do about it.

Not sure when the contract is next due for renewal but there is no competition for them to bid against other than ESPN and even they need the SKY platform to broadcast. The years of continual rising income may be over in light of the recent Euro case.

As i have said before at least it should be easy to get a ticket to a WHU away game as they will have about 20-30k to give to away fans.

the council are not to blame for Spurs lack of a balanced deal for all parties.... if the deal was not heavily-weighted to the private company known as THFC, then there would be no need to object to what's on offer...

the days of big-business bullying local government into ridiculous concessions, just so they can have the privilege of the private company's dubious over-stated patronage are over...

I have to admit the Ars*nal financial-model and intelligent management has given them probably the most beautiful, state-of-the-art stadium in the country..... even better than the gaudy new Wembley..

Quite frankly, I'm relieved in many ways, although where on earth are we going to build a new stadium. There are apparantly 24,000 on the season ticket waiting list, which means we can have 60,000 at every game if we had the seats. Haringey need shooting. All they do is bleat on but wont put a pennny up, whereas the Hammers bid was jointly funded by Newham Council. There's a lot of land out by Enfield where the new training ground is being built, so I wouldn't be surprised if something happens out there, especially as the Foundation has so many projects going on in the borough jointly with the Council.

Good Luck if they think they will fill the O/S! will become a graveyard of football. Great idea to mix football with entertainment - perhaps a constant circus with 11 claret and blue clowns!
