Thanks Gareth, that's exactly what I was trying to get across. Mind you I'd buy a shirt how about you?

The shirt sales bit fascinates me. How many of you on here would buy a shirt with Beckhams name on ? Maybe somebody could organise a poll.

And its a big no from me on buying a Beckham shirt too, well it would be as I dont want him at the club full stop.  But really what true die hard would buy a shirt bearing in mind its our colours and badge with the name Beckham on it??? he has done and would do sweet f**k all for the club even if he did arrive for 9 games or so  :idiot2:.

Actually..........................I may only consider buying a Beckham shirt if he happened to score the winning goal for us on the final day of the season that secured us winning the EPL by beating the Goons on goal difference, and there is more chance of me crapping out a winning lottery ticket than that!

Alot of you guys seem sold on the whole beckham scenario. I have given up trying to preach the truth to you obstinate lot so cant be glutious maximussed anymore. Aside from this people seem to be discussing the benefits of having him sending in laser beam crosses to crouch who will score at will throwing defenders let and right with his muscular pencils of arms. Fair enough guv. But havent any of you noticed that crouch cant head the ball for s**t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok a knock down or 2 il give him that but as for goals scored or headers won he is far inferior to the likes of dawson or kaboul etc. In fact how often does he score from set a piece lads ffs??? The answer is rarely.
His best asset is his ball control at feet which is surprising for a 6'7 toothpick.
he also gives away stupid fouls by  pulling defenders to the ground or climbing/falling all over them in an attempt to win headers which is unnecessary given he sometimes has 5plus inches or more on the guys he is jumping with. A strong or agressive, even attacking header of the ball he is not. His physical attributes are in a way a contradiction to his abilities. HUddlestone's size/physique and aggression is a mirror image of this.
Therefore to suggest old yellow balls (His testicular extremities just dont shimmer for me guys sorry) is the answer to our attacking woes is an altogether invalid argument my fellow yiddos.

all you esteemed ladies are missing the 1 key point in the whole |Beckham saga...

the main footballing-reason for getting Becks even for 2 months is the role he will play off the pitch.... the squad currently has no players who have seen it, done it, bought the tee-shirt when it comes to winning Prem titles and CLs (even Gallas has 'only' win Prem titles, FA Cups and the odd League Cup)....

the role Arry has for beckham is that of a "Yoda' to our budding Luka Skywalkers (see what I did there  :santa_afro: ) who have the talent but still lack experience in these uncharted waters.... who better to guide, mentor and be a role-model even for a short (but crucial) 2 months ??...

Beckham can be the defining ingredient in this historic season.... the quality of our football points the way to greatness... lets not under-estimate the mental-side of a title run-in.... experience is the key.

Beckham has it, and can infuse it into our players...... shirt-sales are incidental.

I agree with you for once.....good post.

Redknapp said about Beckham: "He has the ability to do some of the things that we don't do well.

"The other night we played Peter Crouch up front. Alan Hutton hits him with one great ball, he heads the ball down and Rafa van der Vaart scores.

"Other than that Crouch didn't get too many opportunities because we didn't put the ball where we should be putting the ball.

"David Beckham has that ability to drop the ball on his head 19 times out of 20 and that's important."

What a great reason for bringing Becks to the club WTF!!!  Crouch cant head the fecking ball for s**t so the 19 times out of 20 that hit his head one or maybe 2 decent headers may come from that great footballing tactic that is! FFS

I really effin hope that HR has more in mind with bringing Beckham in than pinging balls to Crouch's head. Why would he say "his" head (referring to Crouch)? Why not anyone's head? Kaboul, Bale.. etc.

I think it might be a bit much describing it as only a self-serving move for Beckham. That's like fighting a line of other fans to get a concert ticket before it sells out and then saying only the musician gets anything out of it. It's not like he's forcing Spurs to let him play and Redknapp and Levy are trying to fight him off.
