It's a big no from me because if this is costing us anything at all then it would be better spent on a player that will see out the rest of the season. He has no movement and isnt able to cover the distance even at the old slow pace if we end up playing him i think we would get murdered down the wing if it was him and Corluka.

But i trust Harry and if he thinks this signing helps us then it's fine by me.

1) thats why he wont be used for the full 90mins of games, but probably played the last 30mins or so, to close out games we lead in....IF he's played at RM

2) my guess is that he'll play more often at CM.... or as a holding RM that drifts central... a la Bentley when he played there the last few games last season...

3) even at 35yrs he STILL probably has more pace than Modric.... and Modric played as a wide-middie mostly last season...

Have to agree with Gareth on just about every thing he's said on this thread.Becks can still play CM, but i see him more easing Lenon out of the team for a while. He hasn't got Lennon's dribbling ability but give him enough space and he'll put a pinpoint cross onto Crouch's head, who will nod it back to VdV who will slam it into the back of the net. I love Lennon but I can't remember the last time I saw him send across a pinpoint cross.

A definite NO.
Publicity would be a distraction to the players' current good focus. They may resent this and his presence.
He never had any positional sense or displayed any intelligence.
Bentley is almost as good at crosses and free kicks and offers a lot more.
He probably wouldn't be match fit for a few weeks and would leave a gap in the squad when he goeds back to USA.

I never see what Martina Keown posts so its midly interesting to see what he had to say.

If you have seen how little he has played in the States, just coming back from injury that he will probably break down from and finally what the hell is the point in signing a guy you know might only play 30 minutes? I was listneing to some USA expert pundit on the radio tonight saying he is a one trick pony that barely does anything now apart from corners and free kicks.

What is the point? Lennon has set up a good few goals this season but yes he could certainly do with some practice. Very few players that were good at anything pruduce the same results by training someone else, thats why we already have coaches.

Still dont think it is dead yet, just the usual negotiations. I expect DB to get paid around £50k a week by Spurs and not take his usual £120k from his club.

I still trust Harry and will be happy to support Becks should he arrive after all.

He has a dirty great house in Hertfordshire and he might fancy spending a bit of time in it in his close season visiting the family and seeing his mates.
Or he might be coming to play a few games for Spurs.
Possibly both.

the MLS season ended some time ago.... why only now he's decided to come here with his kids for 3 months... especially when players are required for Pre-Season training a good month before season-start: so around mid-February would be the time he'd need to report back.. IF that was the real scenario..

Levy has given Harry £40 mill budget, so what harm would it cause to spend a bit on Beck's if only for team moral.

ps. We'd get the money back on shirt sales alone!!

The shirt sales bit fascinates me. How many of you on here would buy a shirt with Beckhams name on ? Maybe somebody could organise a poll.

all you esteemed ladies are missing the 1 key point in the whole |Beckham saga...

the main footballing-reason for getting Becks even for 2 months is the role he will play off the pitch.... the squad currently has no players who have seen it, done it, bought the tee-shirt when it comes to winning Prem titles and CLs (even Gallas has 'only' win Prem titles, FA Cups and the odd League Cup)....

the role Arry has for beckham is that of a "Yoda' to our budding Luka Skywalkers (see what I did there  :santa_afro:) who have the talent but still lack experience in these uncharted waters.... who better to guide, mentor and be a role-model even for a short (but crucial) 2 months ??...

Beckham can be the defining ingredient in this historic season.... the quality of our football points the way to greatness... lets not under-estimate the mental-side of a title run-in.... experience is the key.

Beckham has it, and can infuse it into our players...... shirt-sales are incidental.
