Modric - Risk of Going???

I know as he is a top class play making midfielder there will always be links but does anyone a little uneasy at the latest Chelsea link? 

I am hoping Modric is happy playing for us and sees that he has a future and can be instrumental in making things happen at THFC, but could the talented players and the assured big stage plus the dosh of Chelsea be just too tempting for him and cause at least unsetlement , I think the rumoured price of 16.5 mill is a bloody insult also  .

Lets hope but IMO for players such as Modric, Bale, VDV, Dawson, Thudd offers shouldnt even be considered as they are vital to our development at this key time but football is business first!

Players have personal ambitions be it to play at the highest level on the most famous stage or earn silly money that they can wipe their arse with 20's, I hope that we as a club have shown Modric and others that under Harry we can achieve their personal ambitions and we are going forward, just dunno if that is enough these days!

1) He just signed 6 yr contract last May
2) He said himself we gave him the chance to play in prem league and he wants to repay us
3) His friends are here
4) He knows we will get better so why leave a squad thats on the rise.

how can you know if he's loyal or not, from his history... theres nowt to indicate it either way....he left Zagreb cos they rightly accepted silly money for him.... he then came to an agreement with Spurs..

I really dont think we should get hung up over any individual player moving on as we will get the market-rate for such players..... personally any offer approaching 20m for the great Modric and I will be only too glad.... we can get a player with similar talent but far bettere athleticism eg. Gourcuff or even Diarra....

I like Modric, and it wouldnt bother me if he stayed another 7yrs... but I wouldnt mind if he was sold either (as long as we got most of our money back)..

As I said in the other post why go to Chelski it's at best a sideways step, at the moment he plays in a young up and coming talented side, so why would he want to move to a bunch of ageing has beens.

What made me laugh about this report was when the Croatian guy that started this rumour comes out and says, Chelsea are going to make a bid but I wont say anymore as I dont want to upset my friends at Spurs. It might just be a tad late for that matey.

Modric was very Loyal to Zagreb, clubs where chasing him long before the Euro's and when we signed him. Not once did he hint at leaving or try to push a move, which makes a change from the modern day player.

He even showed some loyalty towards us, he didn't have to come to Spurs, he had some big clubs chasing him, but because we where interested the longest and with a big nudge by Levy he signed.

If Chelsea put in a bid and it gets Rejected, you won't see Modric handing in a Transfer Request.

He wont go, I think he would cost anyone interested too much money, I think the only teams that could afford him would be Real Madrid and Man City..... Madrid wouldnt want him as they have Ozil, Ronaldo, Kaka and Sergio Canales who can play in his attacking position and Xabi Alonso in the deep link play role, I dont think Modric is a Mourinho type of player.

He wouldnt go to City he doesnt seem that type of player to be honest he earns alot at spurs and can live off the interest % until he dies after the 6 years is up.

I think City and Spurs are the only 2 teams in the league on their way up, only thing that worries me is Van Der Vaart he seems to outshine Modric when hes on the pitch, Modders is far more influential when VDV isnt playing but he has to get used to him being there because VDV can do one major thing Modric cant ...... Yep.  Kranj on the other hand ruffled more than a few feathers with his transfers in Croatia (understatement).

Moving from Dynamo Zagreb to Hadjuk Split is a bigger deal than what Sol did.  I know Spurs Ars*nal rivalry is huge, but that pales in comparison to Dynamo and Split.

He also does not get as many assists as he should.  I think Villa was only the second goal he was involved in this season in the Prem.  He has zero actual assists this season in the Prem.   

For all of Modrics possesion, he tends to play it safe a little too often for my liking.  Lots of sideways and backwards passing.   That tends to let the oppositions defenses settle.  It came in handy for the first half, but as soon as Villa adjusted in the second he was out of his comfort zone.

And he tends to choke in front of goal.  That is why I don't think the big boys are actually trying to knock down the door for him because he has this mental block he needs to get over when it comes to composure.  He is composure incarnate in his own half.  As soon as he gets near the box in the Prem, he tends to fall over or send the ball into orbit.

In defense he tends to ball watch.  In that respect he has absolutely amazing attitude and effort, but he still leaves gaps and can disappear for large periods, even halves away from home.

He has world class close control, good passing, amazing engine, perfect attitude.  But I think he is literally too nice to be world class.  Time is on his side, but VDV has come in and shown us what world class really looks like.  It's more than some nice flicks, tappy tappy passing and a killer pass every other game.

It has come out that these claims that Modric is top of Chelseas list were false.

Your kidding me right? He pulls the strings for VdV Bale Lennon to attack. Without him those 3 wouldn't even get the space they deserved to score and assist. Modders clearly is the man behind all those glory for our 3 musketeers. Sure he doesnt assist but he helped make them other players do their job easier to assist other players to score.

VdV might be scoring and assisting alot but without modders he wouldnt have the same open space he would like right now.
