VDV As main striker
« on: November 11, 2010, 11:23:48 AM »
In the absence of Defoe, I'm sure VDV can adapt and play up front with his all round technical qualities with Modric behind him instead. I feel Mod can fulfill the VDV role of plaing behind the main striker. Any thoughts?

play Lennon in goal too, and I think you may be onto something here....

vdV can carry on scoring all those goals of his, after Modric wins all those headers that Crouch does, to set him up

With Defoe and Pav injured I think that our best option is going to be using Crouch and VDV. I don't see any other choice. VDV probably could play up front, but I don't think that's going to get the best out of him. It's not like he's struggling to score playing off the striker and he and Crouch seem to be doing well together.

Interesting question RAOUF. I dont think it would be the best option but it would certainly happen if injuries forced Harry down that road.

Your continuos blatant disregard for other members opinions is something that suggests you have major insecurities keown. It is a mystery why the mods on here havent taken action over your disruptive and insulting posts. Perhaps they havent the balls. I suggest playing jenas up front and signing cameron jerome in january. Problem solved innit keown oh you with an iq of a cornflake

Cameron Jerome upfront with Jenas as a 2nd striker would virually guarantee us Top3 never mind Top4.....IF they can both stay fit for most games til May... but personally, I would have Jenas in midfield and play vdV just behind CJ..

Jenas is still the best allround CM we have..... by a country mile..

Lets give RK a run see hwo he works with VDV we have nothing to loose and Crouch needs to stuff up 15 or so easy chances usually by tripping over his own feet or the ball before hitting the back of the net, and lets face it he cant actually head a ball either, his height is an adavantage but he doesnt possess the skill and ability to use it.
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

I think your doing a huge disservice to Crouch by judging him just on the goals he's scored this season (which if you incl. CL goals scored isnt that bad a return on games)..... he also has numerous assists to his name...

if you count the assists + goals and take that as the true worth of a forward.... which is a good measure of effectiveness.... then Crouch has probably as good a record as vdV this season...

vdV has only 1 assist (I think) to his name this season but 7 goals...... whereas Crouch has probably about 7 assists and nearly as many goals..... making Crouch the more EFFECTIVE playerto vdV,  in the final third of the pitch...

yet 1 player gets all the accolades, and the other MORE EFFECTIVE player gets all the s**te from the great number of Spurs 'experts'...

Crouch or vdV  +  tall pacy goalgetter  =  Spurs Top3
