Upcoming Two Games
« on: April 03, 2007, 06:21:58 PM »
Our next two games are against Sevilla, and Chelsea.

I am bringing this to members' attention because I believe these are two of the biggest games this season.

If we beat Sevilla on Thursday, then we become one step closer to lifting the Uefa Cup and placing a peice of silverware in the trophy cabinet.

If we beat Chelsea in the weekend, we more or less garuntee ourselves a place in next season's Uefa Cup.

So I ask you, which one would you rather like to see happen? The yids lifting the Uefa Cup, or in the long run, being in the Uefa Cup next season.

Obviously if we won the Uefa cup then it would feed us European football next season anyway, however if we were to play a 'weaker' side and rest a few players from the Sevilla game so that we had a strong team against Chelsea, then it would garentee us a spot in the Uefa cup next season?

Just a bit of banter I thought I would bring up. :)

To be honest i dont care about the result of the Chelsea game, I dont think it will be the end all of our season if we would lose. I would much rather us get through against Seville then hopefully get into the final for a chance to win the trophy we all desperately want.

I agree with you Daniel. Also place yourself into Martin Jol's shoes.

What is going to be remembered of him more by Spurs' fans?
The winning of a Uefa Cup in 2007, or qualifying for the Uefa cup two years on the trott? I'd much rather want some silverware under my belt if I was him.

not many teams can say they have done the double over chel$ea but seville should be our bread and butter. if we get knocked out of uefa cup with a second team no one will forgive BMJ but people will swiftl move on from losing to chelsea.
Spurs = UEFA Cup Champions '07

Sevilla is number 1 priority. I think we could rest some players for the Chelsea game, play well and then focus on Sevilla again. We could get away with playing a team of..

Robbo
Stalteri Dawson Rocha LYP
Ghaly Tainio Zokora Taarabt/Malbranque
Mido Defoe

Just found this:

Berbatov can obviously cope with the amount of games.
Shame we can't! :D

to be honest i don't think berbatov is fully fit, he always fades in the end of games

we needed Hudds for the pile up though

I think there is no question in the matter, Sevilla has to be the priority and Chelsea can take a back seat. A European trophy is what everyone at the club craves, whether it be players or officials or us fans. I am sure MJ has his prioritites right and is concentrating solely on the Uefa cup.

Saying that though, I am sure our second string team can put up a good fight like in the FA cup tie. A win in both would be very nice.

Will take a big effort to win both, but footballs a funny old game. I'll take a draw in both tbh.

I can understand how people would say that Sevilla is more important, but think about it.  A loss away to Sevilla isn't the end of the world with the return leg at WHL, and even if we win tomorrow and somehow put the tie beyind doubt, we haven't won the cup yet.  I would much rather that we picked up a point at the bridge and helped cement our european place for next season.
