It pains me to say this but. Woodgate was injured for most of the time he was at Madrid and, if I remember rightly, scored an own goal with nearly his first touch on his debut. As soon as he was fit they packed him of to 'boro and it's probably fair to say they wish they hadn't bothered with him. They may well feel the same way about Michael Owen. However you are right when you say they must have seen something in him, it just didn't turn out to well.
