Modric as a 2nd striker in the 'hole' behind Crouch, when we will mainly play counter-attack.... :2funny:

oh for the shot memories of the 'fans' who so soon forget that in fact Modric was shoehorned into playing that very role when he 1st joined Spurs... he was crap at it..

the clue is in the original statement.... 'on the counter'.... pace.... penetration... the ability to outrun CBs twice as big and powerful.... the ability to shoot WITH POWER ....

Modric  :2funny:

Got that exactly wrong didn't you? Where did Modric start again? You were right about the counter-attacking part though, which is why Jenas stayed on, I think. Luka can certainly shoot with power, however. Don't know where you came up with that. His legs are enormous for a man that size and he can snap a shot off similar to Arshavin. Jenas stems are good for falling down. In any case, I don't understand why the two (Jenas & Modric)must be mutually exclusive. Unfortunately, the player hurt by the resurgence of both is Kranjcar.
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

Kranjcar confirms he will seek Spurs exit

He told Mediaservis: "Of course, I have to wait to see what Tottenham have to say, but as things stand, a transfer somewhere else is not that far away.

"I am not angry or too disappointed. I believe that things will improve at Spurs.

"But if not then I will look for a club where I can play week in and week out.

"I don't want to spend my years just sitting on the bench because I love this sport, which is why I'm unhappy when I'm not playing more regularly."

Kranjcar's father Zlato, who is the manager of the Montenegro national team, claims his son has already made up his mind to leave, telling 24sata: "Niko is definitely leaving Tottenham.

"That is his choice and I totally agree with him.

"There just isn't any sense to be sitting on the bench all the time."

Zlato last week revealed his son's preferred destination was Italy but that a move to Liverpool was also a possibility.

If he does go, I really hope it isn't to Liverpool or another Premier League team. I could see him scoring against us every time he plays.

I couldnt care less where he goes, as long as we get the right price.... 6m ish....

if he goes to Liverpool he will flop as much as most talented attack-minded players tend to do there.... so its a win-win as far as Spurs is concerned..

remember a chap call Joe Cole once ??

I think it would go against Liverpool's new tactics if you don't flop. No width, no pace and it looks like they get told off at halftime if they dare venture into the opponents half.

Niko a talent with great ability there is no arguing that, but where does he fit in when all our midfield are fit, in all honesty its subs bench at best.  Niko is one of the names that springs to mind when we go on about our quality in depth in the squad but TBH he is to good to be a squad player but as it stands he wont be first choice for our starting line up.

His lack of chances this season hasnt helped and he may get a few games with our injuries but he knows as well as we do his future isnt with us if he wants assured first team football.

On the plus side we will make dosh on him, on the down side he is a hell of a talent to lose and for some other team to gain!

This is the problem we now face. We have so many good players we cant fit them all in. They want to play so they look to move on and we have to find somebody else. On the face of it the answer would seem to be, have 11 great players and another 11 who are a bit crap and dont expect to play every week. This obviously wont work either as with our injury rate we would soon be playing the 2nd 11 more often than the 1st. Being a Manager must drive you nuts. How on earth do you keep them all happy ? Obviously throwing money at them doesn't work just look at Man City for proof of that.

It is kinda troubling to have a guy of his calibre warming the bench all the time. That said, two goals against Malta is nothing that great. It was his two goals against Israel that really impressed me.

I hope that, if we do sell him, Werder Bremen puts in an offer. They're my second-favourite team in the world after Spurs and I think he'd actually have a shot at playing in the Grün-Weiß' starting 11. Otherwise, I s'pose whoever's willing to fork over the dosh, as long it isn't another Prems team... especially not the Abominations.
