he was almost just as good in the dozen or so games 3yrs ago, when he 1st joined before his long-term injuries.... Lennon was anonymous then too....

not the most elegant, skillful player but such a great athlete..... perfectly illustrates how athleticism totally trumps skill in today's game...

Totally agree, Bale was brilliant when he was 18 when he first joined us under jol.

I will never forget the Carling cup game against Middlesbrough at the lane a few years back, he absolute tore them apart

Well thats not entirely true. It's all very well to be athletic but you need a modicum of skill as well. Not much point in being able to run like Usain Bolt if you cant take the ball with you. And his dead ball delivery is of a very high quality and you dont need to be an exceptional athlete to do that just look at Beckham not a particularly great athlete but has the skill needed to put the ball exactly where he wants it.

I didnt say that Bale has no skill, obviously you need some to be able to play in the Prem at any position.... but his main attributes are his pace WITH stamina... very few have BOTH... and yes, his delivery from the left is very good...

but lets not forget his intelligence and temperament... Bale is very mature mentally for his age too....

If we can hold onto him for a few years it will be great. It also depends on our level of success over the next while. If we are winning things then he may choose to remain that little bit longer.
Count ourselves lucky as he is the envy of a lot of clubs worldwide. His potential is absolutely frightening. Rarely does he have a poor performance either. World class.
