Reason for our Recent Poor Form
« on: September 25, 2010, 11:28:06 PM »
We are always notouriosly bad in september but there something else going on here to add to our woes, worries and wobbles !!!

28th Aug Wigan Athletic
11th Sep West Brom
14th Sep Werder Bremen
18th Sep Wolves
21st Sep Woolwich Wanderers
25th Sep West Ham

I am predicting a return to blistering form against FC Twente and can't see anymore Wobbles, Woes or Worries until the end of November LOL !!!

Pretty wierd huh nearly the whole of September against teams beginning with 'W'

Oooh that is quite freeky.

I believe its maybe more down to our commitments to the CL and suffering some costly injuries e.g Gomes, Dawson, Gallas and Defoe.

Our league form is suffering without these players but also I think we have one eye on Tuesday. Yesterday West Ham were really up for the game and took the initiative straight away. Much like we have done to rival teams in the past who have European commitments.

I feel we need a couple of our key players back - Gomes for one as well as Gallas and Defoe. Then we may see a change in results...I hope
COYS!

I think the problem is that Harry picked a wrong line-up yesterday. Keane should have started.

Definately agree Riff, i know Harry knows his stuff but yesterday i thin the wrong line up and substitutions were made. If we get a win against FC Twente i will forget about yesterdays defeat, its hard to because i have alot of friends who are hammers fans from when i use to go to college in London.

I know harry has been managing for years... but his inexperience in managing a CL team is showing big time i think.

Just think you guys have have his team selections have been poor. he will get to grips with it soon i hope

I think the key is to make minimal changes as possible after and before a CL game.

Personally, i have never understood resting players all the time, some of these players have to be so healthy and fit, they should be able to play 2 games in the space of 4 days

I'm worried that last season we overachieved and are now returning to mid-table business as usual. By my count, we have played 10 games this season, and won only 3 of them, of which only one was really convincing (young Boys at home). Last season I think we'd have won 6 or 7 out of those games. Hope I'm just being pessimistic......

We have a MAJOR injury crisis now, Gallas will be out for 3 weeks with a torn abductor muscle and King has tweaked his groin and will be out for god knows, both happened in training on friday! Looks like its Bassong / Corluka partnership at CB which is awful, and Huddlestone better get ready to play CB! Caulker has just gone out on loan to Bristol City today aswell!?!?! I think we will be recalling him back ASAP

Caulker is definitely not ready to play Premiership football yet. I think his performance against Ars*nal pretty much proved it.

As predicted on here by a few of you guys the Dawson injury was always going to be a nightmare as he is the 'fit' one of our centre backs. (I don't mean that in a gay way).

Didn't stop some tit of a guy on here cheering his injury though.....

the main reason, especially against Spam, that team's have done well against Spurs is that theyve now got our number in how to defend Crouch (with no Defoe next to him)...

all they have to do is push up and force the game into our half where we then have less space.... even with Lennon and Bale as wingers there's nobody to worry the back4 with the space behind them... now that the pacy Bent is gone...

we also desperately miss Gomes.

also, we have been unlucky with having not 1, not 2.. but 3 of our best CBs out injured at once: King, Gallas, Kaboul.... we also have Dawson out which I guess balances up the luck a little bit...

if we can soldier on and get 1-2 CBs back, and maybe even experiment with Lennon or even Bale playing off Crouch upfront, it may give defences something to think about before they push up so much (sometimes to just 5yds off the centre-line).... maybe:-

.............................         ......Gomes

Hutton.......Kaboul/Gallas................King/Bassong..................BAE/Bale

vdV................Jenas.................................THudd......................Modric

...........................Crouch/Pav.................Bale/Lennon

far too original for Arry to go with this tho....... he likes to play it safe with the fans...

Bale and Lennon are not strikers and I doubt that they would be useful up front.

Bale is probably our biggest goal-threat whenever he is in the final third of the pitch.... Lennon started his career as a striker at Leeds..

the point is that both of them can give us an option to stop back4s from pressing us into our half so much.... particularly Bale could be excellent playing just off Crouch using his pace/power shooting ability, if teams leave too much space behind the back4..... Bale has probably scored more goals in the Prem than any Spurs player since he came back into the side against Ars*nal...

like I saidf already... Arry will carry on as it is til January.... and we will continue to drop points against lesser teams (who are actually more balanced in options)...

That has got to be the most elaborate bulls**t yet just to get Jenas in the side, you are so far up your own backside it's unreal.

Once again you show your absolute disregard for a player in our squad by saying that an injury to him equals up the bad luck. You really are a degenerate Gareth and I hope that some unfortunate accident befalls you then we can all feel like some bad luck has hit the forum when you're not here !!!!
