Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp insists he would rather win a trophy than follow Ars*nal's approach to the Carling Cup.

"The fans want to see some trophies," said Redknapp.

"I wouldn't want to be in a position where they say, 'he played all the kids and won nothing, but he has a good youth team'. It's not for me.

"Arsene has stuck to his guns in playing the kids in the Carling Cup. He could easily have said, 'no I can't do that, we have a chance to win the cup'. But he felt that it was good for their development.

"Ars*nal will be challenging on all fronts again, but whether they can make it is another thing.

"Things go in cycles. Fergie did it at United and there were six kids who came through West Ham into the England squad. I don't think you'll ever see a better group.

"Ars*nal have good kids, but there are not too many English lads among them, although Jack Wilshere looks as if he will make it."

I'm personally glad to hear this, i said it before i wouldn't mind winning the CC this year.

We seem to have a different youth structure here at Tottenham now our reserves teams where scrapped. Our British youngsters go in loan to gain experiance which is great. I would however like to see them participate more in this competition like at Ars*nal, but Harry does have a point regarding actually winning a trophy (possibly).
However tonights team and bench should feature some of the lads who haven't played much this season yet which is good too.  Certainly gives them an opportunity to perform and maybe give Harry some food for thought down the line...

can you see any of Rose, Bostock, Parrett, 1-time Taarabt, Townsend, Naughton, Obika, Livermore playing regularly for Spurs in the next few years ??...no..

youth-development at Spurs is now a PR-stunt..... if other young starlets are asked to join Spurs instead of going to eg. Hull, Stoke, West Brom and the like where they will get 1st-team gametime, they really should think again rather then be conned into thinking that Spurs have their developmental interests at heart...

ditto Citeh, Liverpool and most other big club in the top10 of the Prem..
