Like I've said before, I like Jenas and I want to see him do well. On the other hand, he is mighty frustrating - especially so because of his obvious talent. When he plays, JJ will inevitably burst through the defense and motor upfield in a glorious moment of hope only to the push the ball too far ahead and go down at the lightest touch. We can also expect him to venture into the box at least once a game and muck up a perfect cross intended for either of our well-positioned forwards while getting upended by the center-half. I think the word that best describes Jermaine Jenas is "anticlimax".
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

as per usual with all the Jenas-bashers you will cherry-pick the negative moments in order to justify your pathetic little views on still our best CM at Spurs.... but I will confine my views based on more scientific empirical measurements of performances gleaned from many matches I've seen him play over the years...

your statement that he gets in the way of forwards to stop them scoring his laughable... compounded by the fact that he rarely is given license to attack the penalty-area from his CM position nowadays (to allow the great Modric or Kranjcar to have a free-roe to do so)..

and if he was that bad in the penalty-box WHEN allowed to attack more, then he'd hardly be our most prolific midfielder for most  of the 6yrs he's been at Spurs..

epic fail yet again Wilson..... must try harder..

Keown answer me this.

Why was Jenas "dropped" from the side originally?

Is it because he has the tallent to be one of out best midfielders but goes missing in far to many game when we actually need him to be making that difference?

Yes Jenas has talent, I admit, but he isn't consistant enough to string 5-10 good games together.

thats an easy question to answer..

1) he was injured for most of last season, so wasnt able to compete for a place regularly

2) Modric cost 22m euros and therefore its in Spurs interest to maintain that value by shoe-horning him into the side somehow.... as Bale is now the best option at LM (even seen as such by the fanbase) Modric has been assigned to play regularly more often in the only slot left... as a CM..

3) its easy to maintain things from last season (but less so with every game) and continue with Modric-THudd as the preferred pairing... the fans idolise both and so will be far more accepting of the team getting poor results, with these 2 there...... far more so than with Jenas initially in the side thus benching Modric...

Arry has already shown a major weakness in allowing fan-power to dictate his selections, ahead of his own judgement... the classic case of him asking Ghaly to come on as sub, then backing off within seconds, as soon as the fans voiced their 'opinion' on the matter, proves this beyond any doubt..

ultimately tho.... Jenas will progressively be used more and the new centre-midfield will be shaped.... without Modric..

From Feb/March on if i not mistaken we played Bale at LM when BAE recovered from injury therefore pushing Modric in to the centre alongside Hudd. In that period we beat Chelsea, Ars*nal and City as well as maintaining our top 4 challenge. In those 3 games we managed to control the midfield with a compact 2 (Hudd and Modric) These two over ran the likes of Lampshade, Mikel, Fabregas and Diaby.

Can't really see call those final 3 months of last season "getting poor results" can you?

Well if that happens, we will all see yet again Jenas' inability to string 10+ consistant performances. Yes he may play well twice in sucession but the next 5 or so games he will be anonymous - not what we need to be honest in midfield. Can't say that about Modric.

lol... you must mean the 3-4 games when Modric only played there AFTER Palacios got suspended.... when Arry had no choice but to play him there....and if you think we CONTROLLED the game against Ars*nal, you really do need to lay down somewhere and rest your head...

and as I've said countless times, Modric can look okay in a game at CM IF we dont play 2 out and out wingeers (which we now usually do with Bale n Lennon)... like against Chelsea we used Bentley as a non-wide RM cutting inside to help out constantly... ie. Bentley did not play as a winger...

as for Jenas not being consistent over 10+ games, you obviously have conveniently erased the last spell injury-free he had ie. when Arry joined and from Dec-April '09 Jenas was excellent mainly alongside Palacios.... the period when we showed Top4 form for the 1st time in 5yrs...

write your silliness as much as you like.... Jenas will now slowly but SURELY resume his regular CM slot for Spurs.... its inevitable..

Scientific evidence is measurable data. When something happens once it may be an isolated incident. A second occurrence could be a coincidence. Three times is a pattern. More than that is a trend. Jenas capturing the ball and galloping forward in a straight line only to lose control of the ball and fall down is a trend that I have observed over time. Your claim that he is Spurs most prolific midfield scoring option is based on one season several years ago and it was mediocre at that. I would call that an isolated data set. JJ does some good things like track back and block the occassional shot. That's good. He's a decent player. I hope he does well. It is nearly inconceivable, though, that several professional football managers overlooked the same "empirical knowledge" that you seem to be blessed with whilst deciding to leave the player on the bench.

...contiguous, "virtual three", concurrent, continental, sublime, pedantic, epic fail Wilson, Bin Laden is a freedom fighter, Jenas is our best CM, Modric cost 22M euros, I heart Hamas, everyone in your part of the world is an ignorant redneck racist, not me though - I'm enlightened, controlling the space, none of you understand, I'm neither a Gooner nor a Yid, no football club will ever get my money, I support no one - except Jenas, I'm afraid of Americans, big brother is watching, shh...they might find me, my room is dark, it's cold here...

Did I miss anything?

Not sure if you missed anything but it certainly made me laugh.

the only consistant thing with JJ is his inconsistancy, he may have played a solid game midweek, but he don't always give 100%. send him to QPR

I agree with samuiloafer JJ's inconsistency is the only consistent thing about him - Wouldn't be sorry to see him go!!!
